Hi,
I'm on the first mission of SH4 campaign, and an aircraft (in open Yellow Sea) attacked without any warning dialog window (just like it happens in SH3, when during time compression gameplay) ... all the deck watch was in place

did they remove that SH3 feature?
is it a feature of the mods I am running? (realism settings?)

thanks

TC was 128 or 64, I couldn't tell for sure

mods are in the signature, no other change made

after further experience, it looks like to me that the dialog window like in SH3 won't appear, only a audible warning by the watch crew

! this Yellow Sea is more densely populated of aircrafts than ships! :o

where are they? :)

Having AC jump on you during TC has been an issue since SH3. Shouldn't the TC
drop to 1 automatically when AC is spotted?

yes, TC stops, yet with SH3/SH4 I usually let it run while I do other things, because I find it a less stressful approach to the sim, than using a high TC, while staring at the monitor waiting for something to happen

and I've found very useful in SH3+GWX to hear a louder (than SH4) warning call (aircraft/ship spotting), coupled with the dark grey dialog window that drives me to the PC, in case I did not hear the call

so with SH4 I'm missing that feature, because I'm compelled to stay near the PC more than before: as a matter of fact, although being on my first assignment, I already had to reload 4 or 5 times, being badly damage by recon aircrafts .... that in this huge sea seem to find me quite easily .... :o ..... ... ..... where are the ships? :DL

If I have radar my TC drops to 8, if not it will drop to zero when the plane spotted box comes up giving you your're options.

I usually run TC around 3000, have always had time to dive, even with visual contact, unless in a Sboat or slower diving boat.

The only time I've been attacked by planes and not know it was at night, radar pick them up, but I don't dive due to darkness or fog and they drop bombs and my crew doesn't spot them....course I know these are the radar equipped planes in TMO.

You can tweak time compression yourself.

Go to My Documents, and SH4 folder, in there open the CFG folder, and open the Main.cfg file with notepad or wordpad.

Second group from the top, is Time Compression settings.

To stop that from happening, I set the EnemyDetected setting to 1.

Same for Radio Messages, and AirEnemyActivity. I have all of them set to 1.

If you want, so you don't have to do it for every new campaign, go to your SH4 directory, and in the data/cfg folder preset those in the Main.cfg file there.

Then you don't have to worry in the future.

YES, that's what I was looking for!
now I can set time=0 to detection event and keep on playing the sim the way I like

thank you all
