I bought SH5 a month or so ago when I got wind of ubi scrapping the insulting DRM requirement to be constantly online.

That was a big issue for me as I often have very patchy internet reception.

I have been merrily debugging the game for several weeks now with the Offline mode selected but (coincidentally) having an active internet connection and it's all good.

Now when I try to play it without an active internet connection It wont let me access my saved games:damn::damn::damn:

Before anybody asks I have done the following:

When I try to resume my career the save appears to load but the moment the game visuals start to appear I get the following message:

'The internet connection experiences problems (sic) and the current game session was saved. Please wait until the internet connection is restored or press OK button to return to the main menu'

:wah:

What gives? Does anyone else have this trouble or know how to get around it?

I could still play a single mission so it would seem to be just a save issue.

I think it is because you saved while in online mode.

Nah, I never played it in 'online mode'.

First thing I did when I got it installed was select 'offline mode'.

Stangely though, it always says 'syncing saved games' and 'your saved games have been successfully synchronised' on start up whether or not the internet is working.:hmmm:

You get that message every time, even if you are offline. BTW, I have no problems playing in offline mode :hmmm:

When the ubisoft game launcher is patched you get the option of playing offline . Go online so the game launcher patches , there is quite a few patches .

It always say 'syncing saved games' with the server despite that i uncheck savegame option.

i will try unplug the router and see if the game loads normally

Nine times outta ten my machine is connected to the net when I launch the game and I gotta wait while the Uplay launcher does the 'checking for update' routine every time. The first time or two it did patch the launcher.

Do you mean I should select 'online mode' in the Uplay settings from time to time to allow patches? Seems odd but i'll give it a try.:hmmm:

well... i tried shutting off the router and the campaign loads normally, so it seems that the message is not true.

Perhaps is looking for savegames in other server for default, but after loads it from the HD.

Well that didn't help either, It just won't let me play my career when I'm not on the net.

Seems I'm the only one with this issue? Oh the irony!:wah:

After some more experimenting it seems if I launch the game while conected to the 'net, load my career and then loose the connection I can still save and load as I please untill I exit the game itself, I then cannot load my career again on restarting the game untill the internet is connected again.

At least I don't have to worry about it droping out mid game (that's why I haven't noticed the issue untill now I guess) but It's still a big issue as I often don't have internet reception for days at a time.:damn:

I guess I'll just try to finnish this career then try a re-installation.:-?

Just out of curiosity do you have steam version or boxed (DVD) version of game?
