For the most part I just use the hydrophone, but I dont feel like doing much math so I dont do timed intervals or try to pinpoint the exact location of the ship. Now I would think the radio would be a very useful peice of equipment on a sub, but usually its used for locating convoys that are hundreds of miles away or something, and I havent gotten to any campaigns that require me to refit from a milk cow. Other than those two purposes, which are rather useless for the most part, what are they used for?
One question about the hydrophone.
Should I learn the algorithms involved for locating a ship only using the hydrophone? I think I could learn it but Ive always been really bad at math. I think it would be hard enuff to locate a ship using the hydrophone, let alone while the sub is moving. Im playing on realism for maximum difficulty and maximum immersion though, so Im not sure how useful learning the hydrophone really is yet, for the most part I just use it to get an idea what direction the closest enemy ship is coming from.
