Brazil has overtaken the UK as the world's sixth largest economy, an economic research group has said.

I'm a little suprised the US are predicted to remain top, even in 2020.

Didn't want to come across as sounding mean but I honestly thought the Chinese were very close if not already past the US.

Mind you, they'll fall very hard if and when it happens.

Don't worry, we have our beloved leader. His economic prowess will lead us!

From what Ive read the Chinese are due to snatch the title of No 1 economy in 2016 ish, but with the current state of things who knows.
US has seriously bad debts, but they have a lot of strongs assets too, Both US and Chinese economies are extremly dependant on each other.
Thats the problem, all the leading economies of the developed world are massivly exposed to each other. Self sufficiancy is almost non-existant in this age of mass globalisation.

A few months back i was convinced the world was on the brink of total ecomonic collapes, but in reality I think that might be a bit far fetched, rather I think that we on the brink of a 30's style depression, which is bad - but not quite as bad as the former.

I think the next decade will be a time of economic misery with a decline in living standards and prosperity, we'probably see a lot more civil unrest on our doorsteps too, possibly countered by more authoritarian policing resulting in a further reduction of our civil rights.
But so long as we (mankind) can get though it without decending in to a WW3 chaos scenario - that wil be good enough for me.
Right now nobody is actually itching for a war, Russia, China, and US certainly aren't.
Lets just pray it stays that way when our crappy clapped out global financial system finally runs out of steam.

On the bright side, pretty mutch all of these 2012 dooms day scenarios are complete nonsense :).

Heav'n forbid. (Though what're the odds, given history?) I don't relish the thought but I mustard-ently persevere.

Wait 'till the NeoCons get back into office. Then you'll see the slide.

How many countries are supported solely on US aid. :hmmm:

Scary to think they too could be building an aircraft carrier with no planes for it... ;)
