Hi everyone. Just got SHV and I am enjoying it. However, i am getting this very strange bug where every now and then, my mouse's sensitivity jumps super high and my kaleun's footsteps become really rapid and sound like he's tap dancing as he walks around. This only happens when i am actually walking around the sub. Has anyone else experienced this very strange and annoying bug and/or know of a fix?

Yes - way back when the game first came out.
Have you patched to v1.2?
If you have - try the mighty fine crew mod:up:

Hmm, yes I have patched to 1.2. As much as I appreciate the culture my kaleun brings to the boat with his tapdancing, when he does it when we are under attack and I am trying to get to the command room, one does question his sanity... :hmmm:
Oh, and if it helps at all, I have the retail version of the game, not a digital download.

Anybody have any ideas? I don't need to do an Irish jig just to get to my battle station!

Bump, does anyone have a solution for this?
Like Trevally suggests above, try the " MightyFine Less Annoying Footsteps 1.0
" MOD
Also, somewhere in the download section there is a MOD that slows the pace your character is walking.
I haven't tried this one myself yet though. So if you install it, keep us posted.

Ah thanks, i'll try that.
EDIT: Well, those mods made it slightly more bearable, but unfortunately the bug is still there. The random super rapid footsteps wouldn't be annoying if the camera controls didn't suddenly get really sensitive. I look to my right and end up almost spinning around 360 degrees.

You could try anitlag:hmmm:

Hmm, i'm not getting any lag though. Worth a shot however.
Also, computer specs:
Nvidia GTX 460
Intel Core2Quad 2.66ghz
4 assorted 1gb chips of RAM, DDR2
1.5 TB SATA hard drive

Does your processer switch into/out of power states (and thus frequencies)? It's a long shot but try locking the processor at a certain frequency

Sound card drivers? Are you using onboard (motherboard) sound or a dedicated sound card (Soundblaster)? Tried updating the sound drivers?
Tried updating DirectX from Microsoft's website? If you are using Win7 DirectX9 is not installed by default. You have to install it yourself.

I have a dedicated sound card. Tried updating sound card drivers. No dice there either. I'm also already using the most up to date Nvidia drivers.

I have same bug... only "healing" i found is to do step back and he would walk normally. Have 1.2 patch and Magnum Opus Mega-mod, new nvidia drivers and etc and etc.
But i don't really care about this, because i walking only to get "special meal". In any other case i teleporting at stations or staring at navmap.

But not alone! Yeah, I have the same problem, but I don't really care about it. After what I'm experiencing, tap-dancing and hypersensitive cursor speed only happen if I'm close to a ladder or in one of the doors between compartmens. Thank God that Mightyfines less annoying footsteps exist, it really does help + it adds to realism of the sounds walking on type VII submarine metal floors! :D

Yeah, it's more the hypersensitive cursor that annoyed me than the superspeed footsteps. Also, i didn't actually notice but you seem to be right... it usually seems to happen the most when i am near or climbing up a ladder, as well as in the forward crew compartment.
Same problem, really annoying :( .
