New Because .. 100% is new territory that Iam using for this sim .. Iam back at sea after flying my Buttocks Off in IL2 ,, My eyes cant see liitte dots so good these days so I needed a break ,
My recent War Stories:
I took the challenge of taking U-68 across the Atlantic to engage the enemy . Uncle Sams back Yard , It Took forever to fly across the atlantic to find my tanker , ( I understand why you ask your radioman for a re-supply) I wasted three days going around in circles looking for the tanker .:damn:
When I arrived I was greeted with a Clemson class destroyer patroling around the ghost Tanker . I wanted to save my fish for my plan to attack New York Harbor . After- All I did this once before in Sh3 , The Clemson left and I got refueled -- I made the course for NYC Harbor
Arrived in NYC area , 01/02/1942 , My strategy was to infiltrate the harbor and sink as many ships as I could possibly sink , But as always the guard Dog escort patrols around the entrance of the harbor , This time another Clemson Class with its four stacks steaming a constant oval pattern . Odly enough a constant 7 knots , Desicion time ! Shall I risk a couple of misses and waste preucious fish or shall I run silent and stay on course in get as close as I can to south end of NYC Harbor ( I wanted to send the admiral donesz a post card from my subs obs scope ) . :D I made the desicon to engage the gaurd dog at a range of 4500 meters , By that time we had been underwater for about 8 hours my crews moral was a lonley dot on each of thier faces , New kauleun , what does he know ? In fact My navigator hand was twitching !
I plotted the soulution I flooded the tube , re-checked wasted time making sure my caculations were correct -- fish away! -- Missed . Now I think I got the gaurd dogs attention , went silent waited , the Clemson still rolling around in its same old pattern .. 4500 meters not a good choice . ahead slow Ill sneak up on him and close the range , I had my sonar guy call out the bearings my situtional awareness was nilled and focused to this one gaurd dog . Got within 2500 meters time to plot a new soulution , Raised the scope to get the firing soulution caculated .
My scope arose from my stealthy aybss of the sea , depth under keel 12 meters , speed 0 knots My boat was facing HDG 355 . As the scope went up "NEW CONTACT BEARING 170 (warship closing fast short range ) I turned the scope and behold another Clemson bearing down on my boat at my 6 , Motors from the escort getting louder .. I GAVE THE ORDER DIVE to 16 meters ahead full .Full right rudder , Scnell !! . The Clemson ran into me before I could escape , rocking the boat from left to right wildly ,, Time to become defensive , travellys scrirts , engaged for DONT PANIC DEPTH CHARGE ATTACK , , now overhead 3 escorts dropping depth charges all around , I manged to avoid 4 attack runs , went silent made a course for 175 . I need to regroup and get some fresh air for my 1 dotted moraled crew . Iam impressed , They performed , 5 hours later the escorts still dropping depth charges getting fainter and farther away , Hull is at %75 , Co2 @ 15% its becoming dark and Ill have a chance to recharge my batterys and get some fresh air .. NO Instant succes , didnt lose my first boat on my first oatrol at %100 -- Story to be continued .. I Hope !
