Been playing WWII sub sims since way back when Aces of the deep came out.

Then it was on to 688I and last year i finally got SH3 with GWX 3 mod. now im on to SH5 and im trying to get all the mods to get it to look as good.

My 10 year old son has gotten me back into gaming after a long hiatus...can remember playing alot of Silent Service on an Apple IIc back in the day. Currently we are playing SH 3 and 4 with mods...lotsa fun :DL

Hey guys, long time player of the silent hunter series, just purchased a new toy that enables me to run SH5, visually amazing (max graphics at 1920x1080....he he...;) Just started the task of searching for relevant mods to fix....well everything...lol, tho mostly looking for game breaking fixes (was mortified when first dived below 50m...and stalked by 1939 super destroyers, ala SH2) Was about to download UHS after downloading some visual mods (Acurate flags, ect) when I reached my 3 download cap.....sooo here I am hopefully lifting it...
Tho I have never posted here before the subsim community has been extremely helpful over the years and allowed me to get the most out of the silent hunter series.....so thanks to all the posters and the awesome mods....

Hi im another new comer. Although i have visited this forum once or twice in the past.

My fav Navy sim is Enigma Rising Tide, just recently reinstalled it. Just have to track down all the patches for it.

I have Silent Hunter 3 and 4, but don't hate me for saying i found the missions too long, actually getting to the mission area even with the speed time up feature. lol....right, to the brig i go?

Hi all,
I grabbed sh5 recently and am back into subsims. I played with sh3 and 4 earlier and from that time I know your community quite well. Many active people here, a friendly atmosphere and a lot of valuable information.
Graphics in sh5 are marvellous however coping with all the bugs and mods makes not an easy start. However, being a fan of flight simulation and used to FSX graphics sh5 seems to be worth the effort. And - different from sh3 - the game is designed for 16:9 monitors.

I was reading a wonderful post on Reddit by StarTrekMike, Silent Hunter (and other simulations) and personal narrative. (http://www.reddit.com/r/truegaming/comments/nl3vo/silent_hunter_and_other_simulations_and_personal/) The last time I'd played a subsim was in the 80's (Gato) and his description of his campaign brought the fun back, even though I clearly remember how horrible the graphics were back then. It was still fun for the story that I wrote around my boat as it traveled the seas.

I've been playing the training missions for Silent Hunter 3 (via Steam), and things are much more complicated than I remembered. But I'm up for some realistic simulation and trignometric functions! I'm grabbing Grey Wolves and MoBo tonight.

I have been a member here for a while, but have just recently come back (after getting SH5) - I can hardly wait to get it all up and working with the mods on the forum here !

its just too bad there is not a great campaign like in AOD - where you can start with the small boat, and then get upto the XX series .. but its fun with VII's none the less !

Hi there my name is Glenn I found subsim.com quite some time ago by google while looking for mods for sh3, sh4, sh5 I've downloaded many over the year or so I've been coming here. Its the best resource for navel sims Ive been able to find, today I was looking for a patch for dangerous waters an old classic. Sonalysts Combat Sims (http://www.sonalystscombatsims.com/) patch download no longer seems to work. I run win 7 (64 bit) and have sh4, sh5 both running great with many of the mods found here :) I thank you very very much for all your efforts, Hats off to all involved here. Curious though the patch download 1.04 dangerous waters here told me I had excedded my daily download limit however I believe I had only downloaded 1 (DARPA ACTUV) thats what reminded me of Dangerous Waters ... very similar sim engine, I'll see if I can it running on win 7 for nostalgia I might also dust off sh3 and try that as well. SubSim suggested I make a post here to resolve the problem. anyone else remember Seawolf, Gato, Red Storm, Harpoon, 688i just to think of a few, I've been playing navel sims since the 80's

Just a quick hello from me. I've played subsim games from SH1 and through all the sequels, but my first exposure to the subsim genre was waaay back on the NES with the game Silent Service (ah, you gotta love nostalgia). Over the years I've learned what I can about subs, WWII and older specifically (and U-boats to be even more specific). I'm just fascinated by them and I couldn't say why.

But, in any case, I'm glad to have finally posted something after lurking for years here and look forward to hopefully participating more in this wonderful community. ;)
