I guess $5.1 million just isn't enough to live on nowadays...

I know that having a fully-functioning brain isn't required equipment to play football, but I cannot understand how the NFL's *rigorous drug testing program* could have missed this dope's dopey doping.

And speaking of frauds, did you catch how the writer managed to gratuitously drop a reference (and link) to Tim Tebow into the story? I mean, jeezus, Yahoo. Show your readers a little respect.

I say ban Hurd from playing pro football for life. Give him a healthy dose of the Pete Rose syndrom.

But this sure makes Pete Rose look like an angel. At least drugs weren't his downfall.

Pete Rose was once interviewed on a local radio station in L.A. a few years back and one of the interviewers brought up some sports scandal going on at the time and Rose responded with something along the lines of "yeah, well they just sell or use drugs, beat their women, get involved in gang thuggery, etc. At least they arent betting on games outside of their sport..." More than a little irony/sarcasm and a whole lot of truth. I think the uber-pious attitude of MLB should be ratcheted back a notch and give Pete a break. In the next few years, there are going to be players inducted into MLBs Hall of Fame who aren't a fraction of the player he was or have the records he has...

As for the NFL and the NBA, consider this: it is very possible some of the future inductees to their respective Halls of Fame are players who are going through or will go through some rather serious scandals (wanna bet the 'rehabilitated' Michael Vick doesn't end up in the NFL HoF?)...

The guy's looking at 40 years in prison. His football career is over.

The cleaned-up-for-TV version of that scene is funny. "Where'd you get that scar? Eatin' pineapple?"
