I think it would have been a very exiting and great experience to be able to multicrew on the same U-Boat, for different kinds of reasons.

Would this ever be possible for SH5 ?? :sunny:

Do you mean a diffrent crew everytime you start a new career ? I might be able to do that with the crew names .

If you want diffrent names then a campaign restart is required . Go into the game files
C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\UPCDataGE\UPCCrewData\CrewMembers

Copy this unaltered file to a safe location first for a safe backup in case you stuff it up .

Change this line on all crew members
CrewMemberNameIDLinks= NULL
to
CrewMemberNameIDLinks= NormalGermanNames

As far as i am aware the names wont randomly change every new campaign restart . TDW or someone would have to look into it .

Thats all the info i have on this subject .

No, I was thinking more like beeing together on the same U-Boat, like on many other games, where you coop together in the same plane, or tank etc.

For instance, before leaving a port, just log into a specific patrol and join by logging in with a specific i.p. address.

I guess it would be a veeeery long trip to join, if it wouldn't be possible to use the time compression.

To be able to multicrew on the same U-BOat for a specific amount of members, I think would be very exiting. As long as one can anyway walk around the sub, it would be great to have one in the Torpedo room, Radio room, map etc. :DL

But this wish will probably never come true anyway.... :yawn:

No offense, but I would never play it. Think about it. You're the torpedo chief. You don't do anything. You don't shoot the torpedoes. All you do is supervise the reloading.

Maybe playing the soundman would be fun. All you would ever see is your 360-degree dial. You would report all the contacts you found, and update them constantly. You wouldn't know where they were on the chart, you'd just keep making reports. The captain might tell you to follow one. A very important job, but I don't see how it would be fun in the game.

Chief Engineer? You would be the one who gave the actual orders to dive or surface, change engine speeds and steer. You wouldn't do any of those until the captain told you to. Otherwise you'd just sit there.

Weapons Officer? You might be the one to make the marks on the chart when the soundman called them out, as the game has no position for the sailor who actually does that.

Captain? You'd do less than you do playing the game by yourself. You'd give orders and make the decisions, but you wouldn't actually play with any of the controls.

I don't see how it could be any fun at all. But maybe I'm missing something.
