When using GWX simply do the navigation exam (the easiest of the exams) and you'll qualify for the 1500 renown.

Since I put GWX on the flak course seems impossible.
I know it was made to be more realistic shooting down aircraft but my bullets just do not seem to hit the mark.
I've played hundreds of games in my time where you have to lead your target etc but I just don't know with this game.

It isn't impossible... (I've managed to do it a number of times) and you still have to put your bullets where the airplane is about to be. We just removed a lot of the 'arcade' feel relating to flak gunnery.

Patience and persistence will get you there. However, it should also drive home the point, that as a U-boat commander... you should be well and truly afraid of the aircraft you come across in campaign mode. Aircraft ASW patrols were the grim reaper to the U-boat.

i glad you did: when reading up on the history of it, it sounds like it was a dangerous and mostly unrewarding task - ending in death or serious injury.

Captured by the USN in 1944. Almost used for target practice after the war but was donated to the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago when a group of local citizens raised the money necessary to cover her transportation and installation as an exhibit.

Patrol 3: Bernard was sinking neutrals and put us down -350ish points (I think that is what caused the drop in renown.) He is not allowed in torpedo room anymore. I usually run out of torpedoes before I even get half-way to the assigned patrol grid. I'm a maniac out there! Torps going every which way, so look out! :haha:

Sorry about the thread hijacking...I have problems in training with flak too. I see it as merely defensive weapon, realistically. For example, if I can't dive to avoid the aircraft then we would utilize that gun. Or, if the target was a weak and vulnerable one.

Oh, I did use flak once to help finish off a vessel. Like I said I am a mad man out there! :rotfl2:

Happy Hunting, mate!

So it was not the sinking of neutral vessels that caused me to lose so much renown?
