Sail Ho.

I am working with this real navigation mod "thank You". It would be nice to have the captains log editable to have all changes and corrections close together. The reason for this is when plotting a target or evasion correction it will be next in line from a previous entry as it should be to eliminate plotting errors, and to verify plotting target success and failings. Logistics would be minimal to ease nerves when Davy Jones is calling also.

I have checked most logbook updates but I am not immune to fog.
If this is not possible, input of other ideas would be nice to.

Sounds like a job for notepad/excel/access.

You seem to always start threads asking for what I want most.
You can edit the captains log using silent hunter 3 commander but I would absolutely love a way to edit it in game.
ALT TAB-ing out of the game to write in notepad so you can transfer after a patrol has ended in commander is only way I can do it at the moment. But, ALT TAB-ing out of game messes up my sound so I gave up on that.

I have a request of you if you have a little time I would greatly appreciate the effort.
How about starting a little thread detailing your thoughts etc on the real nav map mod / sextant I found you.
Maybe a little explanation or better still a After Action Report.
Would love to read a AAR for a patrol you have completed.
I'm connected to the net with a crumby dongle with not much credit left.
Don't want to waste my bandwith downloading all the star maps without reading a review.

Salute !!!

I use the Hydrophone Tracker program but since alt-tab messes up the sound I simply set up my laptop and run it there. You can do the same thing to write a ships log too, I suppose.

I've discovered an amazing high-tech program that lets me keep a running log without ever pausing the game. I call it "pen and paper". I even make daily radio reports with the 4-digit grid coordinates (AM2346), my course and speed and the weather conditions including Beafort number. After the patrol is finished I type it up for publication. Works every time. :sunny:

Pen and paper?
What is this contraption you speak of?
High Tech?
Sounds expensive!
Where can I come by that of which you speak? EBAY? AMAZON?
Do share gifted one.

Yes, and it she is running well to leeward.

I skipper also with with lights out at night. The main blank sheet at the only place available logically on my desk is for quick heading, speed and time changes when at general quarters. At this time it is not wise to be distracted by changing screens. If Davie does not get me I then plot this info on the map. Log book entries are of times and dates of transit to be location verified by simple topographic measurements. 200 klm @ 120 deg of Portsmouth ex. If question arises look at the chart.Other Vessel range and course bearings are plotted on the chart first but I transfer this also to the log book"as above" for the chart will get cluttered and will have to erase eventually. I log patrols only.
As for the celestial navigation part of all this, I am thinking of rigging red light. For the math mass is unavoidable without paper. Its log entry simple and marked on chart as"XX". One X is mark of when patrol is first sighted only.
The mouse click is the perfect action. But more importantly its saving all of this simulation and accumulated real time info into one box. At times I copie all to a dedicated hard drive and put it on the shelf less paper if had a choice. If not this is still great.

I have been a hard full year on land, and I may be suffering deliriums. But if I close my lids shut really tight I see Venus.

Thank you
Capt. Plank

P.S I do not pause. I have other questions for you but my eyes hurt.

Thinking on the poop

Yes but..............I have to complete my course of metric measurements first. I think I had mess dutie that month or I am missing something simple altogether. I use that other system. But, full speed ahead and dont spill the grog.

Uninstall the mod immediately, I am concerned for your mental welfare.

I doubt doing the A.A.R will do you any good as well so I'd give that a miss too.

After action report. I am a bit slow and I will quit goofing off. I would like to
act on your request in a bit more time. I am learning of sh3 surface anomalies
and trying to understand their predictability with plotting simple courses. This will help in problem assessing later on. Confidants is gaining. I apologies for acting like a Fender Head.

Thank you

Capt.PlankSH3 Commander has a log book updating feature. Get the latest version installed and look in it's folder for SH3PatLogEd.txt and SH3PatLogEd.exe

I look forward to reading the A.A.R, It might convince me to get the real nav mod
