Fuer Frei posted the first steam catapult (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=NkNZfu3EdvA) launch in July. This is the first F-35C launch utilizing the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System.

Emals? - not long till it suffers from a virus or receives some spam then.
Congratulations F-35C you've won the Nigerian National Loterry (sic), to release this fundings (sic, again) please pay Herr-Berbunch $1000. :D
Now on the the serious stuff. EMALS, nice clean launch and, I assume, more environmentally friendly than a steam launch. :yeah:
Very nice, I wondered when a magnetic catapult would be put into service. Are they still going to be using the usual wire based retardation method on landing though? Or has something more fancy been cooked up for the Ford?
EDIT: Just googled the Ford and it appears she will have a new wire system based around magnetics. So that'll be interesting to see.

Darn self imposed youtube filter here at work. I think I read on wiki that the arrestor system is actually already deployed and testing at a base somewhere on US shores. Can't remember the name.
Can't wait to have a look when I get home, really want to see how the emal launch system works
