All of a sudden, out of nowhere, every save game on my extensive career went corrupt. I tried making the SH3 folder in My Documents read only and that didn't work. I remember a long while back a trick that fixed this for me the last time this happened that involved copying or renaming some file. For the life of me, I can't remember specifically what file or files to do this to. It was posted here, but I'll be damned if I can locate it. Anyone remember how to do this ?

Go to your SH3 folder in MyDocs and add a letter eg. 'x' to the save title.

You can delete the 'x' later if you wish but I've never saw the point.

If you can see the files, take them out and start a new career.....return to port, save the game, return the save files and reboot the game.

That didn't work either. I think it's a lost cause. The whole career went belly up.

Did this problem occur during 1943 by any chance? If so others have also experienced something similar see http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=189886 .

As you come to a place to save( on the water , not under it) make your REAL SAVE then return and make atlease one FALSE SAVE ( I use XXX for my first one then XXXXX for my next one ) then exit.

When you return to load try the last save, it may work, so far for me the first one ( in this case XXX ) loads.

When you save DO NOT use the same words such as Tanker , cargo ship,
or what ever. I do not know but it seems like a simular issue in SH4 of over writing the saves. That will leave you in a big wide Ocean all alone.

Good luck. SNAKE1937
