Philadelphia PD as well as Mayor Nutter handled the eviction expertly and with virtually no disruption or violence. Kudos to them.

Ramsey is one of very own, and was the police. Never a two-bit politician who never saw the street.

Same excellent police work here in Los Angeles. The LAPD Chief, Charlie Beck, was actually on the scene, right in amongst the officers clearing out the Occupy campsite. This is a result of the change in techniques brought about by the prior Chief, Bill Bratton. Prior to his tenure, the LAPD chiefs had been notorious for an almost seemingly indifferent to situations that may have become or did become more serious. The LAPD chief at the time of the Rodney King Riots, Daryl Gates, refused to leave a dinner he was eating as the riots started to lurch into violence (he also refused to talk to the Mayor, Tom Bradley, and had not talked to him for many months prior to the riots). I was a bit concerned when Bratton left the LAPD and Beck took over; there were no assurances Beck would be as effective as Bratton. The actions early this morning shows Beck was and is a good choice to fill Bratton's shoes...
