what mod of fatigue do you use :06:

I'm usin' the GWX 8 hour fatigue and evidently I can't manage cause all my guys are wore out especially the officers as there are only to bunks :nope:

Is there a model where the guys can get rest anywhere on board as long as there is no action as would have been in real life :06:

If you use SH3 Commander, you can choose settings, if so :yep:

Use SH3 Commander, and select "No Fatigue".

Other than that, there are plenty of bunks on board, just not quite enough for everybody. I used to rotate them every four hours and everybody was happy until a storm came along, then it had to be every two hours, so I finally gave in and went to the SH3C "No Fatigue" setting. Now everybody's happy.

They fixed that in SH4 by putting the crew into three shifts, and they rotate themselves.

They fixed it even more in SH5 by getting rid of the crew altogether.

I'm usin' the SH3 Commander with the GWX 8 hour mod ...

Maybe I need to switch the guys out more often eh

Does TC make a difference in the way fatigue works either by on or off shift :06:

If not using SH3Commander, you can eliminate fatigue entirely in either stock SH3 or GWX by editing

C:/Ubisoft/Data/Cfg/Basic.cfg

[FATIGUE_COEF]
replace all positive values with zero.
Leave all negative values (found only in comp 6 and comp 7) untouched.

This removes fatigue from the game so you don't have to spend a lot of time on crew management.

Your edited file should look like this:

That will help. I know I said I swapped them every four hours, but I could have waited longer. That said, in a storm every two hours is vital, which with SH3's ongoing bad weather can become very tedious. Hence my finally joining the "No Fatigue" crowd.

I'm lazy so I use the 'no fatigue' option with SH3 Commander.

I try to play this game with as much realism as possible but crew fatigue is one option I just turn off.

"whining sim like crew" ruins it for me.

:yep:

Honestly as far as realism goes, this one is really a toss-up.

"No fatigue" isn't realistic but neither is requiring a commander to micro-manage routine crew rotations and duty assignments. In the absence of a truly realistic option, whatever makes the game more enjoyable is acceptable IMO.

I agree ...

I prefer to have some sort of men gettin' tired on their posts as to no fatigue at all but this micro management sucks ... if someone could come up with a way that they manage themselves would be great :yeah:

Someone did. It's called SH4. :rotfl2:

Seriously, though, I don't think it's possible in SH3.

LMAO ... :haha:

Would be nice though to add that little bit of realism to the sim ;)

I know of a couple of people who tried but without success.

I find that I can play only an hour or so before I am fatigued.

:har:

Actually in game I manage my men as I enjoy managing all the boat activities - not something an exec. officer would do but it makes for more immersion. I am used to running crews and managing my guys in RL, so when ashore I like to keep that dynamic. Whatever floats your boat I say!

I used to insist on moving my men myself, but in the stormy weather and moving them every two hours I found myself taking an hour to cover one day of game time. Since I switched to "No Fatige" that same game-day takes about five minutes. It would take even less, but I still drop to 1x TC every four hours just to check the weather, and I still compile and send a position and weather report at the same time every day.
