Other things i hate.
- Have to put up with 10 times the idiots on the road on the way to the store, both coming and going
- have to hear the same tired BS xmas songs every freaking year on the radio and in the store.

Then there's having to drag a dying tree into your home. You spend 20 to 50 bucks on something your just going to throw away in a few weeks. Then you have to put a bunch of crap on it that your going to have to pack away again in a few weeks. By which time, it sheds a crapload of needles you have to sweep/vaccume up, turns excrement brown, and becomes a fire hazard. At which point you have to drag it back out, find someplace to chuck it, and sweep/vaccum some more.
Oh, and then there's having to play musical families. Have to be here, there, and somewhere else, by such and such a time. Reminds me of Thanksgiving. Big PITA. Time off i think should be to relax, not be made to drive all over hells half acre for BS social calls for people you hardly even know, while putting up with 10 times the stupidity on the road.
Whatever Xmas was supposed to be, it's was lost on me. My wife loves xmas however, so i keep my mouth shut and do whats expected of me. Seeing her smile and the spark in her eyes is worth it.

Artificial tree! Mine lasted 18 years. Just got a new one originally priced at $150.00 for $49.99. Nice tree. Up in flash with folding limbs. :DL

I did that for a few years then drawn the line. I told my family that I was not spending the holiday in a car for no reason at all. I see my family throughout the year. Christmas is stressful enough with about everything you listed in the previous post. Adding a roundy round in the car does not happen for me anymore. However, if anyone has the notion to drop by my house for a chunk of ham and pie they are welcome.
Whatever Xmas was supposed to be, it's was lost on me. My wife loves xmas however, so i keep my mouth shut and do whats expected of me. Seeing her smile and the spark in her eyes is worth it.
My wife is the Christmas person at our ranch. Xmas has been lost on me when I see thousands fly out the door for gifts. It is commercialized beyond recognition. It never ceases to amaze me watching "A Christmas Story" where entertainment was listening to Little Orphan Annie and a football was a REAL Xmas present. Not a $800.00 laptop and iPod! Things sure have changed and not always for the better. However, we make Xmas as special as we can for our kids. My Xmas as a kid were great (the football was a REAL gift back then) and I want my kids to have a great Christmas. My girls are older now. Want clothing!

Heh, so you know the tune I'm singing eh? :O:
Xmas for me pretty much stopped the instant I left home. I only remember two christmas's while in the service. One, was a huge empty parking lot outside the barracks, and a driving rain. The barracks were deserted because everyone went home for chistmas. I didn't bother. In my mind there was nothing to go "home" to. So I sat there on that cold rainy day, by myself, drinking beer and watching TV. Just another day.
Only other Xmas i remember was overseas. Commander had recalled all of us from the various construction projects in the field to celebrate xmas together as a "family". hell, those guys were more my family then my real family was at that point in my life. So we had a whole pig on a spit, and had a 4 cubic yard front end loader bucket set up as a beer trough. Stuffed ourselves, drank beer, shot the bull, good times, and a much needed break.
But the thing is, I had completely forgotten when xmas was. I didnt realize it until we had been recalled from the field. A buddy of mine used to tease the hell out of me for not knowing when xmas was. The truth is, i stopped caring. Hell, i didn't even remember how old I was or when my birthday was, let alone christmas. It all became Inconsequential trivial BS in my mind. Every day was a struggle, so i lived just one day at a time, and took things as they came, and didn't worry about meaningless dates or celebrations. In retrospect, i probably needed counseling when i got out.
Outside of that, most of my xmas experience was with my ex. I say my ex because I lived with the harpy for 7 years even though we weren't married. That left, left a sour taste in my mouth. Hopefully things will be different with this wonderful Gal I married a couple months ago. My life certainly has improved from the first day I met her.

Once upon a time, a perfect man and a perfect woman met. After a perfect courtship, they had a perfect wedding. Their life together was, of course, perfect. One snowy, stormy Christmas Eve, this perfect couple was driving their perfect car along a winding road, when they noticed someone at the side of the road in distress. Being the perfect couple, they stopped to help. There stood Santa Claus with a huge bundle of toys. Not wanting to disappoint any children on the eve of Christmas, the perfect couple loaded Santa and his toys into their vehicle. Soon they were driving along delivering the toys.Unfortunately, the driving conditions deteriorated and the perfect couple; and Santa Claus had an accident. Only one of them survived the accident.Question: Who was the survivor? Answer:The perfect woman survived. She"s the only one who really existed in the first place. Everyone knows there is no Santa Claus and there is no such thing as a perfect man.**** Women stop reading here, that is the end of the joke.**** Men keep scrolling. So, if there is no perfect man and no Santa Claus, the woman must have been driving. This explains why there was a car accident.By the way, if you"re a woman and you"re still reading, this illustrates another point: Women never listen

So I guess you were sitting there, and because of missing some of the often rather complex word constructions used in this masterpiece you were not able to enjoy the full potential of that beautiful song.
My German is still mostly nonexistent but the gist of it seems to be that a boy's best friend is his mother.

BTW I left my kenpo lesson at 10:30 this morning to go Christmas shopping. Between the traffic and the crowds and the necessity of sorting through piles of picked-over sales merchandise looking for proper colors and sizes while dodging the perfume salespeople trying to spray scent at me plus having to be constantly on guard against making eye contact with mall survey takers and kiosk vendors eager to sell me cell phone contracts, matching holiday scarf and hat combos, and personalized tree ornaments, I didn't get home 'til almost 6:30 this evening.
And my day was STILL better than the the 30 seconds I spent watching that video. :O:
