Just wonderin' what other Kaleun's take on the issue of sinkin' a passenger/cargo

I just sunk one with passengers only on board and I sleep well :arrgh!:

I don't give a damn! I sink them on sight so long they fly an enemy flag.
The same goes for bigger liners as well!
UNRESTRICTED SUBMARINE WARFARE IN ACTION!

I'm just amazed that you actually managed to get one to go under. Apparently there really are some that don't have holds full of ping pong balls and balsa wood. :hmmm:

I usually let em go unless the pickin's have been slim.

I hate wasting 3 eels on a 2k ship. I have the worst luck getting them to sink.

That I wouldn't do. I would not like to turn my Uboot into U-852
http://www.uboat.net/boats/u852.htm (http://www.uboat.net/boats/u852.htm)

On the other hand I would like to have playable MG34s to use them against aircrafts or at very close combat.

I just encountered one of these since loading up GWX for the first time.

Impacted two steam eels starboard midships (one at a time) and then felt "(poker) pot committed" to give her a third. Sent a steam magnetic under her keel from directly stern. Even then, she only slowly began to settle into the deep blue and finally went in with bow sticking straight up.

How about with the deck gun? Does it take most of the magazine to down one of these? Normally I would have defaulted to it, but I had just received instructions from BdU to only conduct submerged attacks in the waters surrounding the UK (I follow those orders for the sake of immersion).

I deck gunned mine and she went down with 188 of the 200 aboard and if I'd had functional MG34's the other 12 wouldn't have made it :hmmm:

She took 33 rounds and broke in two ... the bow bobbed for awhile but the stern went down within' minutes

Historically all belligerent passenger ships were fair game for most of the war unless they were red cross ships or repatriation ships (painted green with white crosses). If you browse Uboat.net you'll see that dozens - perhaps hundreds of passenger ships - were sunk. Nobody ever faced a war crimes tribunal simply for sinking a passenger ship by itself. Attacking lifeboats, of course, was another story.

There's a reason why they're called passenger/cargo ships. :arrgh!:

Allied bombers show no mercy to civilians; I'll show none to passengers.

Torpedoes....LOS !

Split her neatly in half and there should be about one each of everything for both the bow and stern!

You stole that line from me.

Then, again, I stole it from someone.

I have decided they are either a game bug or a sneaky joke by the GWX gang.... I ignore them, now, as "unrealistic" as that is.

Passenger/cargo always get on my nerves.
When I first installed GWX I read about the realistic sinking times.
When I was cruising around in a type II and slammed a torp into one of these ships, I used to follow these suckers for ages hoping they would sink eventually due to flooding as not to waste another of my limited supply of torps.
When the torp hit the bow of the ship, the front end of the boat would sink and the back end would raise out of the water and it would sail on for days and days.
It's as if its ship mating season and it is rearing in anticipation of being mounted by a possible mate.
Go to the watch tower and get your binoculars out and you can pretend your David Attenborough.
