View Full Version : Israel’s Other Occupation!

“CLEARLY, there’s a war here, sometimes even worse than the one in Samaria,” the yeshiva student said. “It’s not a war with guns. It’s a war of light against darkness.” We were sitting in the mixed Jewish-Arab town of Acre in Israel. The war he described was another front in the struggle he knew from growing up in a settlement in the northern West Bank, or Samaria: the daily contest between Jews and Palestinians for control of the land between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River. The explicit reason that his yeshiva had been established in Acre was to serve as a bridgehead in that struggle, just as West Bank settlements are built to bolster the Jewish hold on land there. Israeli politicians and pundits labeled the Oct. 3 burning of a mosque in Tuba Zangaria, an Arab community in northern Israel, and the subsequent desecration of Arab graves in Jaffa as a sudden escalation. But they were mistaken.

DAMN...What occupation now.:haha:
What is this article about anyway?
At least it should mention Northern Israel Islamic movement and the southern one when talking about those issues....
All the sudden some Rabi his views and spray paint is threat to Israeli democracy.

Private snobbish community settlements?
Israelis/Jews get rejected from them every day because they don't own a car in the right color.

What i love about those authors is how they portrait Jewish spray paint religious extremism as danger to democracy but Islam sharia is just fine....democratic will of the people.

For now it would be nice to see more Arabs acting like responsible Israeli citizens.
The last pre 1967 Tuba-Zangariyye mosque burning caused the whole village to go sky-high.
All government buildings including their own cultural center had been set on fire and destroyed by the villagers the same day.
Shimon Peres went there to apologise and police was begging for mercy because they did not want to piss the sensitive rioters.
This is the real danger that can be caused/exposed by an idiot with matches and spray paint.
Common...they probably knew the arson was not shin bet agent....

Is synagogue burning in France a danger to french democracy?

I'm pretty sure that after Israel signs peace treaty with all Arab democratic nations and ME joins EU the tension between Israeli Arabs and Jews will fade.:o
Maybe they will accept Ozzy as they prophet too lol

Yeah yeah

The reason for Israel to reach a two-state solution and withdraw from the West Bank is not only to reach peace with the Palestinians living in what is now occupied territory. It is to ensure that Israel itself remains a democracy ***8212; one with a Jewish majority and a guarantee of equality for its Arab minority.

Im 100% with that statement...and that what will happen when Israel will reach peace...someday.
I think that dealing with Muslim and Jewish religious extremism will be much easier politically in such beautiful future therefore no danger to Israeli democracy.

Israel to encounter problems,in its democratic spirit.

Israeli politics is mostly shaped on attitude toward resolving Palestinian Israeli conflict and defence policy-left/mid/right...blah blah...
Then economy and the all the rest.....
Religious/orthodox parties come in the middle to maintain coalition-it same for left wing and right as well...they are used to build coalition.
Settlers/right wing party has 3 or 2 seats-cant remember exactly.
Current right wing government is not different from any other left wing one in its coalition structure but is very much disliked by media.
Internally and externally ...so here comes fear mongering.
Oh yea... The coalition also includes dick waving Lieberman secular party so eagerly portrayed as next Putin lol.
Here he is just...Lieberman.
Its not media friendly government but no danger to democracy-its simply relatively right wing government hated by extreme settlers and far left wingers.

Its business as usual but less peace talks and a lot of international and national left antagonism...
What ever smell of right is fascism or religious radicalism...Israel goes to hell.... that's cheap...

The only thing that may go wrong is the whole freaking secular/democratic/liberal ME winter....
