What I did was to go ahead and install the patched stock version in my hard drive C:.

Then I created a folder in "My Documents" titled "Virgin SH3".

I copied the SH3 from the C: drive to the "virgin sh3" folder.

As long as the virgin sh3 is there, I can make mutiple installs.

I also made a folder titled GWX 3.0, copied the stock SH3 there, renamed it GWX 3.0, and installed all the files associated with this to that. Renamed the SH3 Icon to GWX 3.0, and installed that on the C: drive in the UBISOFT folder. So now I have SH3 stock v 1.4, and GWX 3.0 installed as well.

Yep, that's the way I go. All games are on a separate hard drive on my system, but otherwise it's about the same. I install the game and then never touch the original installation except to copy/paste the folder and rename it as something else - Stock, GWX, whatever. Those are the installations that get modded and played.

Actually I do the same with GWX, I have one untouched installation of that and two others for mod testing and/or playing.

It all comes in very handy if you need to restore or refer to an unmodded version of some file, or create a new installation to try out a different supermod.
