hello.

So two weeks later I finally managed to get my mods (45 or so) working together (I think and I hope).

I went hunting down merchants off the english shore (I got one tanker and one pesky coastal for 5.000 tons) when, merely 15 minutes ago, while on medium fog (one can see nothing farther than 1000 m) I managed to get the merchant I was hunting for 4 hours real time.

I maned the deck gun and it went down with something like 4 or 5 shells (its me or the deck gun is doing really a large amount of damage? Maybe I'll disable critical hits with deck gun).

I realised, too late, that it was a little swedish tanker. Its september 1939 and sweden is neutral and will be thoughout the war. But... sh5 has marked the target as valid and added up the 1500 t to my previous 5.000t

Certainly, this was happening merely 50 nm off the english port of Edinmburg
and the tanker was heading home, presumably after delivering its precious cargo for the british war effort, but... is this some kind of glitch?

Trevally.

Hi Tolkemec:salute:

Im guessing you are using OHII:hmmm:

If so here is the defside for Sweden (by Gap:up:)

[SideEntry 188] ; ///////////////////////////////// S W E D E N \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ (Merchants, Warships, Ports, Airports, etc.)
Country=Sweden
Side=0
StartDate=19380101
EndDate=19451231

[SideEntry 189] ; ////////////////// S W E D I S H M E R C H A N T F L E E T \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ (Merchants)
Country=FreeSweden
Side=1
StartDate=19390924 ; The Swedish steam merchant 'Gertrud Bratt' is stopped and sunk by U-4; she was carrying contraband. Althought Sweden was officially neutral for the whole duration of the conflict, its merchant vessels were a common presence in Allied convoys. From the outbreak of WWII until the defeat of Nazi Germany, 89 Swedish ships were sunk/damaged by German U-boat while they were sailing on their own or in Allied convoys.
EndDate=19450509 ; German Instrument of Surrender: German capitulation

As you can see it is set to neutral for the whole war - so not sure why you got a kill for that unless it was a freesweden ship. :hmmm:
Was the ship icon coloured green for neutral:06:

Hello trevally, thx for yor help.

yes, I am using OHII, and also mtns (more traffic nations and ships), which I have enabled after ohii, maybe there is a conflict here?

I do not use map contacts, and this one I tracked it myself, it was not displayes in the map. The destroyed ship icon is red...

Looks like it was a freeswedish ship and a good kill:up:

Without map contacts, it is not possible to tell them apart as they use the same flag.:hmmm:

Those damned smugglers! I was too late, I caught them after delivering fuel to the tommies...

So, if I don't use map contacts I won't be able to identify them...

How will a real neutral ship behave in game if it spots me? Will it have its lights on (although I know that in real life it was not always the case), will it be navigating in a straight line?

If this apparently neutral ship is really a valid target, maybe if I make myself known, surfacing near them, they will have their lights off and will take evasive actions...

Can anyone confirm?

Thx!

First of all, I think that the stock deck gun damage is pretty good, many mods increase it's damage, which is uneccessary in my opinion. With Critical hits on, you don't even need torpedoes!

I'm not 100 % sure, but I believe that sinking neutral ships still counts and you get the tonnage. The downside is that you get no renown or you get negative renown (it's defined in some of the config-files).

Yes, I have the same feeling about the critical hits for deck gun, I have disabled it already. 4 shells was usually enough to see pyrotechnics on board and I think it is unrealistic.

Anyway, I got one promotion point for my first 5.000t, and didnt' lose it when I sunk the swedish tanker. I'll take a look when my patrol is over... oh, and remember that the ship sunk icon is red...
