 Honestly never thought I'd have to bug you guys with technical issues on this game again, I thought I knew all of it's quirks and bugs.

Yet here I am, bewildered.

Hope I can explain this in a way it makes sense.

Basically here's the issue, when in freecam you can click somewhere on screen to basically enter a free range, you can control your direction with the mouse and pretty much go anywhere you want.

At least it did work like that until when I loaded it up a few minutes ago. Now in freecam when you click on the screen the camera starts spinning out of control. It happens almost every time and I can't seem to figure out the cause.

Restarting the game didn't fix it.
Restarting Steam didn't fix it.
Deleting my current patrol and starting a new one didn't work
I haven't deleted and restarted my campaign or reinstalled the game yet, those 2 will be something i'll try as a last resort.

I do have a few mods, nothing big or game-play changing and mostly just graphical eye candy.

Camo-Skins for the Type IIA and IID
Torpedo Damage Final Ver 2.0
Ultimate Aircraft Soundmod
Hunter's Moon (an alternate moon)

Other than that, the game is completely stock, steam version of course.

Any ideas? A problem with Camera.dat perhaps? I know it's not my mouse because it works fine for other games, if all else fails i'll just reinstall the thing, but I'm getting sick of losing my campaign over these type of things lol.

Thanks in advanced! :salute:

I used to get the camera spinning out of control sometimes if I got too "greedy" with the external cam and was using the Shift (?) key to speed up its movement while turning it with the arrow keys at the same time. If I overdid it, eventually the cam would just keep spinning even when I took my fingers off the keys.

Tabbing out of the game by hitting the Windows key to bring up the taskbar and start menu used to fix it for me, once I brought the game window back up it would usually be fine. But I never had the game *start* with it spinning as soon as I accessed it. :hmmm:

This phenomena usually happens when you are trying to look at something that is right on the extreme envelope of rendering range....it should right itself when you reboot the game though.

Can't say I've ever had the 'spinny' one, but I did used to get free/unit cam errors where the view was out of sectors on a strange angle. IIRC, a game reboot always reset the view, which thankfully, (since I've updated my cameras.dat file), hasn't been an issue any more. :sunny:

Well I can honestly say that was a pretty amusing if not irritating glitch. Nothing seemed to be working to resolve the problem so finally I just said "screw it" deleted cameras.dat and had steam give me a new one.....works beautifully.

And the best part is I didn't lose my campaign....except for patrol #8 but honestly the only thing I had achieved that patrol was taking some pictures of me fighting the weather.

Wasn't there a problem with the FreeCam and being close to a Land Unit that caused this at one time?
:hmmm:

I can remember an exchange with BBW about this problem once but not why we were discussing it.
