I went this A.M. to up-date my personnel file via SH3 Commander after a completed patrol and I get the following error :

INVALID ARGUMENT TO DATE ENCODE

Anyone know what this means and how to fix it so I can up-date ?

:salute:

:salute:

Your last patrol got corrupted and this has ruined your career.
The best choice to have is to drop the career and start a new one.
Good luck.

I beilieve it comes from making changes to your sub before your first patrol. SH3 then changes the start date of the patrol and Commander is expecting the start date to be the 1st of the month and hence you get an error message.

Interesting - are you referring to realism settings? Can you safely change realisim settings pre-patrol on a second or third patrol or does that bork things in Commander?

So its corrupted and will not be able to correct itself after the next mission?

From the manual:

I am now getting “Invalid argument to date encode” errors when I select an existing
career. Why does this happen and how can I fix it?
This error may appear after you delete save games through SH3. Sometimes, SH3 does not
clean up after itself well, resulting in a data integrity problem. To avoid getting this error, always
reload your career in SH3 (only needs to be to the barracks screen) after deleting any save
games, as doing so allows SH3 to correct the problem.

Making changes to things before the start of your first patrol that delay the start date assigned you by the game is also known to cause problems in Commander afterwards. Mostly this means making changes/upgrades to your boat and equipment that require you to stay in base an additional day or days instead of starting out immediately.

Actually, making changes to your u-boat before your first patrol can cause you to not get credit for any sinkings you make on said patrol.

I also foolishly upgraded my boat before the first patrol and got the same error... you would think I might learn after screwing up my game twice already.
