View Full Version : sh3.exe Already Running

Just wondering if anyone has come across this before.

My install in brief is GWX3.0, SH3 Commander and h.sie's patch. Adding or removing mods through JSGME seems to have no affect on the problem. So, my install was working fine. Then one day I try to launch through SH3 Commander and SH3 Commander closes as if it's launching the .exe. I get some HDD activity, then nothing. So, I load up SH3 Commander again and re-launch and it tells me sh3.exe is already running.

I check using CTRL, ALT and DEL and there it is sh3.exe. But nothing on screen. The interesting part is, if I then terminate the application through task manager. Then try and launch again it works just fine. Restarting and re-installing SH3 Commander has had no affect. Neither has uninstalling all JSGME mods. I aslo, replaced my entire SH3 folder with a back-up and this didn't work either.

Only reason, I'm posting here is I'm away from home for the next 5 weeks or so and don't have my disc here to perform a re-install.

Any ideas? Perhaps a registry issue? I don't know.

Do you have the option selected in Commander where it makes the game skip playing the little "movies" before the loading screen comes up?

I'm just wondering if it's an issue with those little videos because I know some people have had problems with them in the past. Something to do with missing or conflicting video codecs maybe, but I can't remember. :hmmm:

That is correct; when the videos won't play this is what happens. The solution is to delete the movies (both) and the game should then play. I had this issue with my old computer and I had all the current codices at the time.
There may be other reasons also. When I start the game with AlacrityPC via CMDR I get the same problem.
