View Full Version : Does setting the difficulty for the campaign change the AI's difficulty?

I recently bought the U-boat missions addon. I set the campaign to normal but changed the gameplay difficulty to a bit more realistic...does the campaign's overall difficulty affect if you get tougher enemies? For the past five patrols or so, I've come across nothing more deadly than armed merchants, which are ridiculously easy to dispatch. Compared to vanilla Silent Hunter 4, this seems like a walkover so far.

You say vanilla, but 1.5 is still stock. Are you running Operation Monsun? That should give you some headaches.

What I meant was Silent Hunter 4 minus the expansion. I'm using no addons or anything...I just wondered if there was a way to change the AI's difficulty as I'm steamrollering everything I come across.

Ah. I'm not sure, as I haven't played an unmodified 1.4 since, well, 2008, when 1.5 was released. Sorry.

I don't think it will give you a tougher AI. I'm not 100% sure though.
Some of the mods make things harder by giving the escorts better sensors or weapons, or making things harder for you (more dud torpedos), and giving the enemy crews higher experience ratings. I do not think there is any way for anyone the make the AI more "intelligent" though.
