Now where did I ever agree that Ubi could put advertisments or images of OTHER Games on my system?
:stare:
Ubi!! If you are not fixing SH5?
I DO NOT WANT YOUR CRAP ON MY SYSTEM!!
You have no license to do so and I DEMAND you remove them!!
As of today? I will begin to charge you for storage of files unrelated to a Game I bought and legally own.
Storage costs for unwanted files is $100.00 U.S. Dollars per Month.
Please kindly submit your payment TODAY or remove the unwanted files!!
Your License Agreement makes NO MENTION of UNWANTED FILES STORED on my system!!
As such?
YOU OWE ME!!
NOW PAY UP OR REMOVE THE FILES!!!

:D well, you have 2 choices..either focus on that crap, and quit playing SH5, or ignore it and go for SH5.
Madox58
10-18-11, 05:24 PM
You would sit back and ALLOW this kind of intrusion?
:o
How would you feel if I released a Tool for SH5 that planted UNWANTED crap on your system?
You and everyone else here would see me crusified!!
I don't care much about SH5 for a fact.
But when any SoftWare Company starts storeing crap files on MY SYSTEM?
I'm concerned!!

sry, Privateer...I've past that stage, I'm 47 years old and don't care about those details anymore :-?

I'm 54 years old and a programmer!
I stared the FIRST ISP in my area way back in 1994!!
I sold that business and worked for Judges and Lawyers.
That don't make me the brightest guy on the block.
But when a Big Company starts dumping CRAP on your system that they have no rights to?
THAT IS AN ISSUE!!
Those files can be used to send advertisments to any system World Wide.
Thus saveing Ubi money as they COULD BE useing your bandwidth!!
If your fine with that?
So be it. But I am not happy with the whole 'patch' BS that I see so far!!

I've been using Steam for years, used to that crap :P
Paajtor

..but the choice remains, put up with it, or quit.
For now, I give SH5 the benifit of the doubt.

You would sit back and ALLOW this kind of intrusion?
:o
You're asking that on a forum full of people willing to beg permission from the company to play the game they bought. You shouldn't be surprised.
sry, Privateer...I've past that stage, I'm 47 years old and don't care about those details anymore :-?
At 61 I see it as just the opposite. You're young enough to put up with corporate tyranny just so you can play a video game.
Paajtor
10-18-11, 05:46 PM
lol Steve, that's 1 way to look at it :DL
guess you're right, I put up with it.
Another thing I'm used to, but I don't want to talk about my job here :o
Madox58
10-18-11, 06:07 PM
One thing I find interesting?
I never said anything about them screwing with SH5.
I just said I didn't care much about SH5.
I DO CARE when YOU or others get the big prong up the wazoo!!
If you want to sit back and take this kind of abuse?
You do that.
I won't!!
If it helps you that I won't sit back and allow this type crap to go on?
You'll be happy in your ignorence.
Did you notice an addition to some lag in the Game from the 'New Patch'?
:hmmm:
I did.
I am launching several applications from multiple systems to watch what is going on now.
That information is going to be sent to several Specialists to determine what steps We take next.
I also sent a warning to Ubi that IF I find what I think I will find?
I will launch Legal Actions!
Keep your DRM Ubi, if that's what you want.
But if you are useing my system in ANYWAY?
You are a Hacker!! And I will shut you down in this case!!
(Now think what would happen if they are doing something like this with all the Games?)
(CRAP!! Had to Edit because Steve is watching my speling!!)

Oh man I hope you find something so a big court action will go ahead and make my life on messageboards all that bit more exciting. And don't forget to post updates of your court action here for me/us to read. :arrgh!:
But anyway is this the 1.2 patch we're talking about or is there a new patch out haven't loaded up SH5 for the last 24hrs or more.
Madox58
10-18-11, 07:41 PM
My last log in was just a few hours ago.
(I usually run a patch)
You can brig me for admitting to useing things like this or you can Keelhaul me.
That is actually a mote point IF What I'm seeing is valid!!!
I'd almost think if I DO get a 'Bad Boy' type thingy?
Your involved!
You are running SH5 and get a patch that did nothing more then add image files of other Games to your system!!
Show me in the License files where we agreed to this type invasion!!

10-18-11, 08:01 PM
I'm not sure what you're talking about. I've just restarted my game client three times and I'm not seeing any ads or movies or anything for any other games.
The date on my silent hunter 5 folder keeps changing to whenever I last opened it, but I'm not seeing any new files appear.
Got a screenshot of what you're talking about?
Madox58
10-18-11, 08:10 PM
It has nothing to do with SH5 in any way!!
That is the point!
Look in your UbiSoft Game Launcher folder.
Show me ONE file that involves SH5!
Then show me where I agreed that Ubi could plant this garbage on my system!!
A class action law suit is pretty much called for here.

Seems you can't find a simple area to do so!
FREAKING UBISOFT!
You hide behind not responding.
All the better for a nice legal action!!

I do find that funny but it distracts from the main issue!
UbiSoft has taken you for a ride you did not agree to.
If your fine with that?
I can send you my paypal info and set it up in a way that everytime you post you donate money to me.
Ubi is doing that. And most posting here are Happy with that.
May as well get my pay day also.

Well if you don't want to read the whole thread and the concerns raised?
Give me some moments and I'll give you a download link.
Of course you can't whine when I take your system for a long drawn out ride!!
We had no agreement just LIKE UbiSoft when they use your system!
You Guys are REALLY ignorant of this type crap arn't you?

Apparently the last ubi launcher patch has nothing to do with launching SH5 . How does that affect me ?
kylania
10-18-11, 09:45 PM
That picture that 9thinfSword posted are the files for the games that the Ubisoft launcher supports. They aren't ads, they aren't invasive and have been there since you first installed the launcher which you agreed to do in order to use the game in the first place. That image on my PC was created Tuesday, March 02, 2010, 9:25:16 PM for example.
I'm really not seeing what the problem here is if Privateer is talking about that image. You never see those images unless you start that game. There's no popups, there's no in game ads, there's no pushed notifications. In all it's 74MB on my system, which is basically nothing with today's hard drive sizes. Heck, I have individual files that are larger than that. :DL If 74MB is pushing you over your bandwidth caps, A) you need a new ISP stat without usage caps, and B) you need to stop downloading so many movies. heh
I'm still not seeing what the problem is, sorry... I've started my Launcher 10 times tonight and not had any new patches or anything.

I thought you all knew better.

Certainly nothing to warrant this much angst much less a class action lawsuit. :DL
What files are we not noticing at all? You haven't given any specifics only that there was apparently some patch that offended you. Are you sure you don't have a virus or something?
My launcher folder is only 74MB, that doesn't seem out of line at all for this type of program. Here's the logs from when I last patched, which was Oct 8th.
