Why did ubisoft change every thing. Why did they not use the same keyboard keys like SH3 and 4. Downloaded it and got rid of it 3 times. Half or more of the kry board keys will not work,[right left rudder' rudder amid. Periscope depth, Can't dive, crew on deckno way to get them down. Did I get A bum version. Hell can't even bring up the compass.

Most of those things have been fixed by mods and you can have the keys any way you want them. A lot of people are enjoying the game now, and new things are being done all the time. Reading the forums here should have told you that.

My question is, why are only asking this a year-and-a-half after the game was released?

Indeed. The vanilla game's shortcomings are well-documented and mods now available circumvent many of those issues. You are, as Steve said, about 18 months late on the consumer anger.

Each thread will include a description of the mod, instructions for how to install them and a download link.

You'll need to get JSGME in order to install mods. Here's a thread (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1309434&postcount=2)about how to use it to install the mods. The download link is included in that post as well.

TDW's New UIs with TDC is the mod you want to change the control style back to SH3/4, also has configurable keys. Pretty sure there's a standalone keymap mod too.

Anyway here is my order;

d3d Antilag. Don't install through JSGME - read the .txt file how to set it up.
This mod has two files and both must be pasted into; C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5

Please note - when choosing UI you can choose either 1a) + 1b) together or 1c) alone;

1a) Magnum Opus by the Dark Wraith. N.B. You need both the mod and the patch. Patch the mod before enabling.
1b) New UIs TDC by the Dark Wraith

1c) The Ui-boat v4.14

Enable the other mods in this order;

2) Open Horizons II v1.4
3) Dynamic Environment v2.1
4) Stormy's DBSM v1.3
