Can I play SH5 without a Internet connection?

I am going up to the lake this weekend and want to show my uncle SH5 on my laptop. But he does not have a good internet connection, so I am afraid I won't be able to show him.

Is there a way to play the game without connecting to the server?? He is a WW2 Navy vet and he used to play SH4. When SH5 came out he asked me if he should get it, and I said no. With the UI change and just the game being crap, I felt he would just get frustrated.. But now that I have it all modded, I want to show it to him.

Have you not kept up with the forum lately? So many people ask that question (at least one per week over the last several months) that we've taken to complaining about it.

Now that I've had my rant, to your question: Yes, you need a connection to start the game. No, you don't have to stay connected.

[edit] I have a question: If you have the game and "have it all modded", how could you not know that?

No, I have not kept up with the forums a lot lately, sorry..:salute:
Believe it or not, it is possible to mod the game without knowing that piece of information. Some how I did it..
