I loaded GWX3 Gold after a long hiatus and ran into a problem. After diving I lost propulsion and could not restore it. No damage, batteries fine, crew appeared sufficient. Ahead 1/3 - what do you mean "Cannot comply?" I tried a few things but could not get propulsion. Not sure what got me into that situation and not sure how to get out of it. Very frustrating. This was on 100% realism. What's going on here?

Are you using SH3 Commander and if so do you have sabotage and malfunctions enabled?

I downloaded and installed the default GWX 3 Gold package which I believe includes SH3 Commander, yes? So there's a sabatoge and malfunctions option someplace that I should check??

There I was happy to take a VIIB out to sea again in 1940 and I'm dead in the water for no apparent reason. Argh!

Happened to me once, western-end of the English Channel, surfaced (I know, I know!) couldn't use diesels or batteries, I could only submerge v e r y slowly. Eventually I gave up and teleported back to Wilhelmshaven but I wasn't happy about it. I was running (iirc) ~70% realism, and I didn't have sabotage and malfunctions enabled. :nope:

If I understand you right, your U-boat became dead in the water.

Tis an SH3 bug... not the fault of GWX.

It can happen on occasion when you hit your last plotted waypoint.

The fix is to simply select full reverse and then to select the forward speed of your choosing.

OK thanks, I'll try to remember that if it ever happens again. I don't think it was a waypoint issue since I was still enroute and simply performed a crash dive drill. I'll just chalk this up as another wargaming WTF? moment and drive on. LOL Thx again.

Not important now but I don't remember GWX coming with Commander :hmmm:

GWX does not come with Commander.
Only JSGME.

I loaded GWX3 Gold after a long hiatus ... After diving I lost propulsion and could not restore it. ... crew appeared sufficient. Ahead 1/3 - what do you mean "Cannot comply?" ...Maybe your idea of 'sufficient' isn't sufficient after such a long time. ;)

The only times I got this "Cannot comply" message in the messagebar was when I had too few crew in the engine compartment (diesel or electric depending on the depth), or their combined fitness was not high enough. Adding crew, refreshed enough to get over the threshold, was enough to solve this. But to be honest, I can't remember how long the bar actually should be.

PS, don't forget the LI-officer. (Chief Engineer/'Leitender Ingenieur') Without him the order falls on deaf ears. Or his snorring mutes out the Bell ringing.

Throttle setting working or not is not dependable on waypoints in my experience. It does set to a default speed, if there were no waypoints before adding one, and the sub was at all stop.
