Experts have been promising for decades to put a robot in everyone's home - and finally robots are beginning to make the transition from specialist to everyday use. Spencer Kelly discovers the similarities between robots used for cleaning and those used by soldiers in Afghanistan for a very different purpose.

base off military? watch, i bet theyre going to "accidentally" forget to take out that extra minigun turret. or perhaps that "kill john connor" Ultimate directive chip.

or perhaps one of those privacy invading robots thatll start dusting furniture right when you.....make time for yourself..... and totally kill the mood.

It's only fair, the military has been fielding military robots based on cleaning machines for some years now...
