I'm on a Verizon MiFi thing. It's not the greatest internet but I can walk around with it in my pocket and use my laptop wherever.

Poland, the most popular ISP, for a very long time a monopolist. Price-smth like 15 Euro per month
@Sledgehammer427, Torplexed: you are kidding me, right? I thought the US average is smth like Steve's, not like the outback of Poland...

Download - 42.82 mb/s
Upload - 30.75 mb/s
Ping - 11 ms
But then we pay a buttload per month. But does make my artistic viewing a bit faster. :O:

For $36 per month., once 30gigs is used up which is rare for me, its $1 per gigabyte after that.
Download speeds usually is 400-700kbps, upload is pittiful something like 50kb
What gets me is I need a land line phone if I want the internet I don't use the phone yet im paying $52 per month phone rental, just a waste of money each month. Waits for the day where a land line is not required to have internet access.

My internet runs $180.00/month but that includes a landline and TV. I'm with Verizon FIOS. I have no issues with it and shouldn't at $180.00/month.

We have the same setup with Fios. Good service but expensive, especially when The Frau insists on every single premium cable channel. :damn::damn:

Ran it seven times, the download ranged from 3.76 to 4.00 but no change on the up load, ping 48 to 50.

Comes with a new pricetag at $36 per month. So why not? :shifty:

I'm with AT&T U-verse and that's about what I pay. $170 a month for internet, cable with 2 boxes, HD and HBO. Too damn much if you ask me. :shifty:
Its running kinda slow compared to earlier last month, about 30 mb/s off on the download and 40 mb/s off on the upload

I don't remember the library speeds, but they have a dedicated line of their own, so they're probably faster. On the other hand I can't go there and get online at 22:00 or get up at 04:30 and jump online like I did this morning.
I'm currently paying $35 for an interntet-only introductory plan, and will likely switch to a DSL when that expires. A little slower, a little cheaper.

I do the same thing. DSL here is a LOT slower but it is "enough" and you gotta love the $$$ discount they offer to get you to switch. Pit them against each other. I do the same with Comcast TV and Dish.
Since I'm wired for both, it's painless to switch.

Yup, that famous Scandinavian internet! It really does put North America to shame.
In the meantime, here's the infamous Canadian internet:

And that's actually better than what I usually get, too :shifty:

... A little slower, a little cheaper.I would have lived happily forever with 8Mb/s, but the ISP kept upping it. :O:
You very rarely find places with higher uploadspeed anyway...

Since I'm wired for both, it's painless to switch.Yeah! DSL is more than enough.
Speaking of painless... switching ISP is certainly not - the email is (typically) bound to them. At least mine is... :shifty:
The number of places you must go to change your registered email-address is just horrible...
Should have used gmail or alike from the start... http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z15/subject_rod/smilies/badwords.gif

I had MSN Premium as my isp when I had DSL with Qwest. When Qwest and MSN went separate ways, I had the option of switching to a Qwest domain or staying with MSN Premium for an annual fee. I stayed with MSN so no matter what company feeds the internet into my puter my email stays as ****@msn.com which I can also always access at hotmail.
It is well worth the annual fee.

It is well worth the annual fee.A quick count through my favorites list says 93 websites, where my email is used for registration... :nope:
On the other hand, you pay every year.
I'll save $6 every month, get a 3Mb faster download and 15 times faster upload! :smug:
Wonder who'll win the argument? The cheap or the lazy Jan? :hmmm:

If you upload a lot which I don't I certainly see the attraction.
And.....did you just call me cheap?
What gave me away????

Ever wonder what third world internet is like?
http://speedtest.net/result/1508401394.png
Not too bad considering it's only less than 25 bucks for it excluding tv.
For 12 Mbps connection you need to fork 140 bucks. For 20Mbps a little more than 200 bucks a month.

Why are you testing via a London server though? :o That would explain some of that...

No actually my sub is 1.5Mbps. I can get that even when testing through London server. Besides it's the internet. I primarily access sites worldwide. UK and US.
