Anyone found this beast yet? I have a mighty playtime of 120 hours or so, most of it in career. Ive seen about every ship, but never a liner. I know Jefmajor found one, but has anyone else? are they incredibly rare or am I really unlucky? I want to shoot torpedos at it :<

If you're playing the Stock (Vanilla) version, they're pretty common. You just have to go to the right area, usually the Luzon Strait/Tokyo express line or the Straits just south of Japan. When I was playing stock, I began running into them every other day in those areas. I think RFB has them, though not nearly as often, can't quite remember though.

I recall running into two of them once in a convoy somewhere in the Bismarck Sea bound for Rabaul. Must have been delivering a division there.
Wount say to much, but holy cwapz there is alot of lifeboats when one go down.......(TMO)

There's 1 or 2 running around in a convoy to Truk in FORTS and there's 1 going from Tokyo to Surybia in 1944 escorted by a type 36 dd but she's doin a fair clip something like 36 knots

If you use RSRD mod, it doesn't use the Euro, guess it wasn't historic, so not added to traffic.

True. Japan had a handful of converted passenger liners that were used for troop transport. Mostly she relied on converted cargo ships. However, none of them were of the size of this Euro-liner beast which looks like the Queen Elizabeth.

Bumped into one of those a few days ago. Heading North off the West coast of Luzon, trying to make good time for the strait.

She may outrun my sub, but she can't outrun a couple of torpedoes!

This ship was my first actual kill of the war...and my first successful kill with Manual Torpedo data entry!

My game of course is stock 1.5, I cannot seem to mod it at all, though I did just recently get access to screenshots finally!
Happy hunting!

Beautiful Screenshot.
A slightly dead thread...but!
I got my first Huge European Liner tonight. June, 1944. She was running in the Luzon Strait on a heading of about 220 about 60 nm West of Convoy College. She was making 15 knots and had three escorts- 1 out front and 1 to each beam.
I tracked off the southeastern flank and ran an end around. Fired 4 fish at around 3000 yards with an AOB of Port 60.
No duds (for once!) :o
She went up like a roman candle after the 3rd one hit.

In stock I've bagged myself 3 you can find them running out of Singapore in late 44 and off Okinawa in 45.

And people, believe or not but it's possible to sink that big momma with a single torp if you just hit the right spot :P needed a couple of reloadings to prove it right as I accidentally did it once but it's true :D

I find liners (of various sizes) pop up as "small convoy" Speed= Fast.
they seem to be little bit of everywhere, random.
Playing 1.5, no mods.
Torpedo Death

I found one of these last night. It was all by itself; no escorts. Once I got out ahead of it (took a while, since it was going about 17 knots), I took my position and fired a single torpedo. My plan was to hit it once, then finish it off with my deck gun since it was defenseless anyway. Well, that torpedo hit right under the bridge, and the ship exploded. Must have been carrying ordinance or something. I got the "enemy unit destroyed" message almost instantly.
It was quite a sight!

I found one of these last night. It was all by itself; no escortsI run across a lone Liner (and freighters, tankers) now and then.
I've also seen different ships go up like that now & then too. And yes, what a sight to see.
