You may want to provide a little commentary, or at least an introduction to what we're about to watch, rather than just throwing a link out there.

It's that time of the decade again. Don't you have a calendar?

Personally, I like how the video has comments disabled, thus stifling any attempt by someone to raise an alternative point of view to an emotional argument.

Alternative hypothesis: someone decided that the 10,000,000 death threats, "yooboo ees stoopiid" and "Bush dum I'm from Yourobe hi" comments are simply not worth the bandwidth.

It's not their bandwidth, so what do they care? Plus youtube has a rating system that works very well for removing troll comments. ;P

You'd be very surprised (or not) how often that rating system does not work. Besides, the sheer amount of flaming per hour that would occur would mean that the trolling would continue onto the front page, particularly with an election coming up next year...sheesh...
It's going to get real messy around here over the next twelve months...do not envy the moderators, not one bit.
Actually I think the video is a very good and legitimate thought/question. However it could've been introduced and posed for discussion a lot better :hmmm:

But wait? I can't comment the video either! It's a global conspiracy! Man, I'm telling you, those government agents are like roaches, they infiltrate everywhere. They must have travelled in my luggage. But wait? I haven't visited foreign countries lately? My luggage is involved in it! *Heads towards luggage with matchsticks and can of petrol*
Thank you for helping me see it, Oberon. Maybe you are not an empty raisin after all. But how do I know you are not a bot?

Personally I think Wolf Blitzer's question was a blatant attempt to embarrass the Republican candidates with a straw man attack, given that it was directed at the admittedly most extreme member of the debate and raised a hypothetical situation that would be illegal under the law.
Inflammatory comments from the peanut gallery aside, (as opposed to inflammatory comments from party leaders in the opposition, but I digress ;) I think there's nothing wrong with expecting people to take personal responsibility for their actions. If someone is more than capable of paying for their own health insurance (as the question states), and chooses not to purchase protection because of flawed reasoning, then they should be responsible for the outcome (which in this case would likely result in bankruptcy more than death).
If a person chooses not to wear a seatbelt because they're a "good driver" and is injured in an accident, should the government be responsible for fixing their mistake? If a person chooses not to buy fire insurance because they "don't cook" and their house burns down, who is responsible? I don't think the government should be in the business of subsidizing stupidity, and I wish at least one of the candidates would've had the gravitas to point this out.

No, you can't can't comment on the video because you're a raving loony, and they know it. You're actually in a padded cell imagining all this, so complaining about "conspiracies" won't help. I commented on the video with no problem. People like you just can't see it. Now relax, and find your happy place. :sunny:

Quiet, luggage, I just burned you down, so you can't talk to me when I'm talking to you. :stare:
Unless you are in my head. No, you can't be! The power of tinfoil compels your rice rays out of the window. Maybe you are a fishmonger.

THE OBERON IS NOT A BOT, IT IS A FULLY FUNCTIONING BIOLOGICAL UNIT, PLEASE REMAIN CALM, YOU ARE NOT UNDER SURVEILLANCE BY THE AUTHORITIES, IF THIS WAS A REAL MIND PROBE TRAINED ALIENS WOULD HAVE TAKEN YOU FOR EXAMINATION BY NOW.

I know someone, she was self-employed AND uninsured. She also had a very aggressive form of cancer. She received treatment for it and is now cancer free for the last 8 years. The system worked and it worked very well too. We also had an opportunity to meet some very great doctors and nurses who took a personal interest in my future wife's health.
What all political activists need to get through their simple minded pin headed skulls is there is absolutely NO guarantee cancer treatment will work. Neither the Tea Party, MoveOn org, Democrats, Republicans, or the Sandinistas can cure cancer or prevent someone from dying. Only through advancements in medical science and new treatment methods can a cure be found. Not by a political system or the government administration of it.

Yep cruel world isn't it, never heard of conservatives lining people up along a ditch and gunning them down, so we got no health care and no jobs, gee Wallie what's one to do ????? First we must endure 14 more months of stagnation since the current administration is only focused like a lazer on raising taxes and more wasteful spending, and will not rest, until, we are at each other's throats. Hopefully crap won't hit the fan this winter and we can make it to the election of 2012, we certainlly live in some dangerous times, and there is no telling what these nutjobs in D.C. will do too hold on to their power, yep boys and girls it's all about power, and we have all been sold out, so when you are standing in line with a bunch of people with your back to a ditch, remember what the jews said, when they were getting loaded on to the trains," aww alittle train ride, it can't get any worst.."

The issue is access to care. The best treatment in the world is useless if no one can afford it.
At least the audience members who shouted out "Yes" to letting someone die were being honest about the implications of their position.

So... You're saying that a hypothetical person who already has access to care but chooses not to exercise it is denied access to care? Hmm... I guess that makes sense in bizzaro world...

AngusJS what part didn't you understand? Read again what I wrote. The woman was self employed, had ZERO insurance or personal finances to cover the costs of cancer treatment. Yet she was still cared for, she was not denied treatment or told to leave. In fact she was on the operating table within 3 days of diagnoses . The system, though not perfect, did work you silly nit. What is your complaint?
