Excellent page documenting a guy's trip to the La Rochelle U-boat bunker. Great pictures!

I'm quite surprised they were not thrown out of the bunker.
Little fishing boats and pleasure boats that used it as their base are no more allowed to moor into it since a bit more than 10 years, nor is anyone allowed to enter it without prior permission due to the insecurity of the building.

But at least that night on the roof is one they'll not forget. :03:

Thanks for posting the link, Mookie.

do they (the French) use them for anything? are they just abandoned?

Brest is still in use by the maritime force, and is a military zone.
Two of the bunkers at Lorient are the home of some shipbuilding companies.
Recently got to hear that the one at Bordeaux is the only thing the city's major got to find for some guys on heroin and that kind of stuff to organise their techno-house-trance parties - walls being so thick, at least the music inside doesn't bother the neighbours around.

Others are abandoned.
