I need some help to make my night a little brighter if possible. I cannot adjust my video card or monitor. Is there a mod or other setting in the game that I can do this? Running on an imac/via bootcamp win 7. That is why I cannot adjust the card/monitor settings.
Thanks

Not sure what GPU apple uses, but if it's a ....ummmm....... -brain fart-..... nvidia? maybe... shift -pgup should brighten the screen.

If not, then your SOL from what I can recall.

But to be honest, even though I use it, I feel it is cheating, and I feel dirty doing it.

I once had the Hood and Renown both disabled, both withing 2000m, during a storm, and I couldn't see them. I couldn't get a solution to fire on them because I couldn't find them. I couldnt surface for fear of being blasted point blank, so the crew was no help, and since they were disabled, hydro couldnt find them either. It wasnt until the Hood started up again, did I find it, but then it was a tough stern shot that I ended up bracketing with my salvo. Ended up missing them both when I had then dead to rights, all due to darkness.

The 'can't see my hand' darkness adds that realism I enjoy.

My mac has a AMD Radeon 6970. Everything else looks good for the most part. I thought the distance, esp the water, would look better but it doesn't. Still trying out a few mods for that though. HOWEVER the night is extremely dark. I mean if the guys are on the bridge they are almost shadows. Is this what you see? I was thinking ..........isn't there a mod for a bigger moon? Maybe that could shine some more light on my subject.

When I am talking shadows it is due in part to bad or not so perfect weather. But even in good weather at night it is a lil too dark for my liking.

Well, it is night.

Try shift-pgup and dwn.

other than that, there may be a mod.

Try shift-pgup and dwn.

The shift-page up/down adjusts the in-game bloom, so it does help a certain amount. Beyond that, IIRC you can try adjusting the environmental settings in the SH3\data\scene.dat file. You'll need to use Silent 3ditor in order to make the desired changes to 'DarkColor' in the EnvData node.

Good luck! :sunny:
