A Tropical Storm (http://www.weather.com/weather/hurricanecentral/article/tropical-depression-14-storm-hurricane-maria_2011-09-05), that is. Some models have her pointed right at the Outer Banks - Virginia area in about ten days, but models that far out are notoriously difficult to pin down. For now, though, time to watch and wait. Hope the folks in the Lesser Antilles and Puerto Rico are battening down the hatches, though.

So are we well into or approaching the hurricane season a little early?
I think it starts September/October time IIRC. :hmmm:

Already watching...still returning relief supplies for hurricane Irene to the FEMA distribution centers. I guess we will be making a u-turn for Maria. :shifty:

That's what I was thinking...I remember the 2008 SS Meet due for October was put in potential jeopardy when Galviston was hit by Ike (could be wrong on the name) about six weeks prior to the kick off.

I've been surfing the Katia storm surge for a few days now. Heck yeah it's hurricane season!

Can you remember which one it was that tipped the Stewart about 15 degrees over and more or less put Galviston underwater?
I'm pretty sure it was in late August/early September 2008.

That was Ike. I remember Neal's posts about his house being in the middle of it all, and the menu at the seafood place made jokes about it.
