Here's one for all those brilliant people that have given us so much with their MODS - a SAFETY for the firing button!!:wah: TWICE in on patrol, geeesh!!

Do you mean for the Enter key? Are you playing stock? GWX at least makes you press Ctrl + Enter to fire, so no accidents, and I'm pretty sure other supermods do too. There's also a stand-alone fix, and has been for years.

Steve is right, all the mega-mods have addressed this issue. If your not playing with one of the larger mods you should. They increase the campaign elements by ten-fold and the variety of additional mod combinations is numerous. I personally recommend GWX, but there are others that are just as good or better,depending on who you ask. So if your looking to try GWX< JIMBUNA has the .Bin files you need to download in order to install it.

Good Luck and Happy hunting:salute:

I've looked at GWX but wasn't sure how much of an improvement it was over the stock, which I understood incorporated a lot of the previous mods, but I'll give it a try, although my ooops (until a few minutes ago!) was done with my mouse when I was lowering my scope.

You'll be amazed. Pretty much everything is changed, from the way the AI and sinkings work to the way it looks. There are a lot of newer mods which can be added to further enhance the experience, but GWX is a great start and really doesn't need any of the others. They just help.

Also if you're not already using it you're going to want SH3 Commander. It's not a mod but an external tool that adds so much more it's beyond description.

Kind of like going from hamburger to steak. Try it, I suspect you'll like it... :03:

Open (C:\games)\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg\Comman ds_en.cfg with notepad and add the 'c' between the commata to command 313:

[Cmd313]
Name=Fire_torpedo
Ctxt=1
Key1=0x0D,c,"CTRL Enter"

and you'll have to press CTRL + Enter to fire a torpedo.

Like going from junior high lunch room Sloppie Joes to a Porterhouse at Dickie Brennan's.

OK -

Like going from eating grass to eating watermelon and honeydew melon starter, mains of mushroom stroganoff, and a dessert of Samoan Panikeke, intertwingled with a refreshing and cleansing lemon sorbet, washed down with a nice Chablis. GWX is that different to vanilla! :yep: And Commander is a must too.

It's worth it, The super mods make it more like SH3.9

I am installing GWX, and after the previouse posts, I'm strangely hungry. I was using SH3 Commander, although I could never get the log editor to work, and I had some other great MODS that I had found and liked, though many didn't seem to work, I'm thinking with a clean install, GWX, and Commander, all should be even better. This is a great community!

OK, so now I have GWX (and yes, I love it) but I found that the accidental firing of torpedoes isn't my fault after all, and it still happens. I am on scope or uzo and click on the screen to use to the mouse to look around, and when I click again to bring the cursor back to leave the screen or lower the scope, the cursor is defaulting to the firing button, so when I click to get the cursor back, it fires a torpedo.

Are you using any screen res fixes? That has been known to cause issues with that.

Also, you may have an accessibility option flicked in windows control panel that automatically jumps the mouse cursor to any "OK/Enter" Etc buttons that pop up. If you notice your mouse pointer jumping when any window with an OK button pops up, that may be the issue, as it's defaulting to the fire button.

Or the simple answer is stop clicking blindly when you change screens.

Yes, it was the res fix issue, I came across some other threads of ppl having same problem, so I disabled the firing buttons on screen - simple!
