US President Barack Obama's uncle has been arrested on suspicion of drinking and driving, authorities have said.

Onyango Obama, 67, said he would call the White House to arrange bail, after being stopped on Friday in the US state of Massachusetts, says a police report.

A half-brother of the president's late father, he is being held without bail, subject to an immigration order.

Police said the Kenya native was arrested after driving through a stop sign and nearly hitting a police car.

Mr Obama was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to yield the right of way.
'Argumentative'

He pleaded not guilty over the incident in the town of Framingham, about 20 miles (32km) outside the city of Boston.

Framingham police officer Val Krishtal said in a written report that when stopped Mr Obama was slurring his speech and argumentative.

"I explained to him that I narrowly avoided striking his vehicle, and he told me that he did not hear my tyres screeching so I was not being accurate," Mr Krishtal wrote in the report.

According to the report, when taken to a police station and asked whether he wanted to make a telephone call to arrange bail, Mr Obama said: "I think I will call the White House."

so? Barak can't control his uncle. I'm sure people will try to twist this to get an election. But I'll see it for what it is, a pitiful attempt at mud slinging.

Pitiful attempt at mudslinging? Is that what you Democrats call it? The man is an illegal alien who somehow obtained a Social Security number and drivers license and when caught he tries to play the White House card.

If this were a relative of George Bush while he was in office you'd be all over it like flies on a turd.

So Dubya is a turd? I always thought so because his eyes are too close together..

Sorry I couldn't resist that one. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I wish the US had the possibility - and will - to deport members of the Bush clan...:D

Sorry Penguin, we don't deport our own. Besides where would you want them deported to? Is good old Deutchland going to take custody of the ebil Bush clan?

Obama has raided more illegal workers than bush did. or at least has been more successful. He can't help his relatives are doing this, any more than i can keep my cousin from hitting another city bus and claiming it was a hit and run.

That may be true, but August's point is that once again you take one side over the other, and not because either side is right but because you seem to only see one side. And he's right.

my point is, it that people related to you being dumb should not matter. I have never gotten a traffic ticket, and that does not reflect on my record. Obama's uncle might try to drop names all he wants but ultimately, as long as Obama does not give him special treatment, in my eyes there is no shame to me.

So, was Obama's uncle drinking the preferred alcoholic beverage of embarrassing presidential relatives and siblings? I'm sure there's still a few dusty cans left in Jimmy's basement.

If one drives a vehicle with alcohol in the body, the person has problems, especially if it is much alcohol, and in this case, it is not clear if Obama's uncle had it or not.

And you're right, that is a legitimate question. And of course they will. It's what politicians do.

Probably no more than other "persons" try and stick their hatred of Sara Palin upon her children.

well, no, there is a point where a child can rebel to a point where there is no stopping them. But, as a parent you still have very good opportunity to teach your kinds, and in the case of Bristol, teaching them things like how not to get knocked up. On the other hand, The uncle is a legal adult, and there is no stopping him, especially since he isn't Obama's child. I'm 20, and even though i am "independent" my parents still have a huge influence on my choices.

You can't even stop when I call you on it! :DL

Look if two people are having sex and neither of them are sterile then there is ALWAYS a possibility of an unintended pregnancy. You can hardly blame a mother because her daughters condom sprung a leak.

Let me ask you something. Why does the left feel the overwhelming need to make low life personal attacks on it's political enemies? Why isn't attacking a politicians positions and job record not enough?

I'm no fan of Palin but I find the constant sexism and personal invective directed at her disgusting.

that i know, but it does fly in the face of the abstinence that Palin teaches.

I didn't mention the whole palin part until you did. but you are making my point. the same goes for Obama, sure you can look at his uncle and pass judgment on Obama himself...the same goes for Sara. but we know that doing so is wrong.
