Ok so i downloaded it and i understand how to install it. I just got a few questions since you guys already got it installed maybe you could help me.
Firstly the neutral ship skins for 1940 theres no date on them so i dont know which date in SHcommander date folder im supposed to putem in?
Secondly the CFG name list i got in the forum
as below where do i put that?

You have to copy and paste the list into the Englishnames.cfg in the C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Sea folder
I don't know about the neutral skins since I run only a fraction of the MFM and it doesn't contain the neutrals.
You might also want to know that the MFM takes a lot of memory recourses to run.

Rgr that just CPY and PSTED it to the appropriate folder. Ive been waiting for help since i dont wanna install it till im 100% i have the correct installation method down. But im at least half way there. I got the mod in the JSGME folder waiting for me to fire it up. Do you know if the ship names get named thru commander? Because of the new ship types i hope it doesnt change that

You actually don't need to take this step - the game will run fine if you don't paste the names in - but it ensures that the correct names are used when a target is identified. IIRC, without this step the logs, etc will record that you sank a M40A instead of a medium merchant.
You can paste the skins in any SH3 Commander date folder you want; however, the 1940 skins are best used between Sept. 1939 and Dec. 1940 for historical accuracy reasons.

after i installed the mod i got something from the protection program saying the SH3.exe was corrupted or something does that have something to do with the mod if not how do i disable the protection system anyidea?

I think yes. I had no problem with that.
On the other hand I don't know anything about the corrupted SH3.exe file you mentioned. I haven't seen that problem ever before.

well it crashed even after a fresh install with that mod and it worked fine with all my other mods active. I dunno whats causing the crash, i just know the in the details part its a sh3.exe crash meaning the game crashed. Im gonna read thru the whole thread all 65 pages lol and see if im doing something wrong. I didnt cpy and pste the list cause iambecomelife said it was un-necessary. My system should run it fine, i got enuff mem. I enabled it thru JSGME and put the skins in the dates folder of commander, dunno why it crashed.

ok so i got it to load in musuem but, it took forever to load. It loads fast then right before it completes load like a half and inch on the red bar it looks like it freezes. I cntrl-alt-deleted it a few times cause i thought it froze but when i did it for the museum i was reading something and i left it at the same load. After 15 mins it loaded the musuem. Im assuming that after the 4 gb patch perhaps thats what its gonna take to load it. I havent tested it yet but im gonna give it a swing now before i head to sleep. Im also gonna try and load sh3 twice to improve its function. Lets ya know how it turns out.

I also mentioned my Ship Names mod, which adds several thousand new names, most of them specifically for the MFM.
So the answer is yes, it only works through Commander.

Unfortunately there's no cure for the slow museum load. I have a strong system and on a good day I wait maybe 3-4 minutes for museum.
Make sure not to scroll too quickly through the ships when museum does load; if you do, there is a risk of CTD.

How many units in total is your game using? On installations with more than about 250-300 vehicles you will experience problems regardless of how good your computer's "horsepower" is. Particularly corrupt saved games and crashes during campaign. The MFM plus GWX is fairly stable, but if you add several dozen more ships/planes on top of that you can get into trouble.

Yea it gets right up to like a half inch before load and it freezes. Im gonna check now how many units i got. Should i dl the lite version or remove some from the main version? If so how many should i have? And which ones should i remove, like which are the best units to keep etc..

well after 14 hours and multiple installs i finally got it to run. Its a miracle but is it stable? I dont think so, upon entering campaign its slow like molases. Gotta wait an additional few minutes for the game to "catch up". So i reloaded it twice to confirm it will run and it did. Now im busy attaching names to the ships for Commander. ohh and i still didnt even try it with stnaz,wil,ships. I know thats gonna be fun.

In that way you will be able to play the game with some ships of the MFM without CTDs.
This procedure has worked fine with my PC.
If you have the GWX then disable the merged campaign option to save up mamory space.

The merged campaign is a good idea i was holding off on that cause i didnt want to turn it off. But you gotta make some concessions here and there. Im trying to be greedy with my 32bit vista:damn: Been fooling with the MFM for over 15 hours now i can safely say. Im almost there in getting it stable.

The only reason you would ever need the Merged Campaign enabled is if you are patrolling in more than one major theater of operations during the same patrol and want traffic to appear in both/all theaters. Unless you are doing some very long, very unusual patrols on a regular basis, having the MC enabled all the time is just a waste of system resources that can be put to better use elsewhere.

Yea ive been doing some crazy patrols lol not realistic i know but im going med to atlantic and back. I love running thru gilbratar, its fine now in 41 but i dunno if ill be doing it later. But alas it doesnt matter had to disbale it for other mods memory space. Im trying to get a stable monster modded SH3. Its a big pain in the rear.

Good advice...
Especially if you have limited resources, then this is definitely the way to go. Plus, it also has the advantage of allowing limited stability tests - before you get too many hours invested in a project that might never float. :up:
