Two weeks to go before the opening match between New Zealand and Tonga.

We've got a new pack, not featuring the ones some would have appreciated to see selected, but only the best - according to the selector, the ones who've proved they're worth being part of the French league following their behaviour in national teams the past year.
Of course most in here are disappointed Chabal is out this time, and argue that the selector is going for a partly new pack we don't know what to expect from... I'm glad it's going that way myself, that may work in our favour. ;)

Press Release!!!

International Rugby Board (IRB) Rugby World Cup 2011
Following complaints to the IRB about the All Blacks being allowed to motivate themselves by performing the Haka before their games, other nations were asked to suggest pre-match rituals of their own. The IRB Rugby World Cup 2011 Organizing Committee has now agreed to the following pre-match displays:

1) The England team will chat about the weather, wave hankies in the air and attach bells to their ankles before moaning about how they invented the game and gave it to the world, but no one appreciates them.

2) The Scotland team will chant You lookin at me Jimmy?before each of them smash a bottle of beer over their opponents heads.

3) The Ireland team will split into two, with the Southern half performing a Riverdance, while the Northerners march the Traditional route from their dressing room to the pitch, via their opponents dressing room.

4) Unfortunately the Committee was unable to accept the Welsh proposal to form a choir and sing Tom Jones It Not Unusual.

5) Argentina will unexpectedly invade a small part of opposition territory, claim it as their own Las In-Goals-Areas and have to be forcibly removed by the match stewards.

6) Two members of the South African team will claim to be more important than the other 13 whom they will imprison between the posts. These two will then go about selecting the best parts of the pitch to settle on and claim that they have been there for centuries.

7) The Americans will not attend until almost full time. In future years they will amend the records to show that they were in fact the most important team in the tournament and Hollywood will make a blockbuster film called Saving Flanker Ryan.

8) Five of the Canadian team will sing La Marseillaise and hold the rest of the team to ransom.

9) The Italian team will arrive in Armani gear, sexually harass the female officials and then prepare pasta dishes, which they will flog to the crowd for a fortune.

10) The Japanese will shock fans buy demonstrating how to capture a whale for scientific research buy harpooning an opposition prop.

11) The French wont have a pre-match display and will simply hide in fear in the dressing room for the whole match.

12) The Australians will have a BBQ on their side of the field and invite the opposition over before the game. The food and alcohol will be in abundance and by the start of the game no-one will remember what they came to the stadium for. After some streaking, the singing of dirty songs and the occasional chunder everyone will go home thoroughly convinced it was a bloody good night.

13) The Moroccan team will quietly pray during the first half and then launch suicide attacks against the opposition after the break. Unfortunately, this strategy works well for the fi rst game only, after which Morocco is forced to withdraw from the Rugby World Cup due to lack of players.

14) Samoa will prepare a huge feast in the middle of the pitch by digging a large hole and filling it with burning embers. They invite the opposition over by saying, We like to have you for dinner. Its only when the opposition get to

the pit that they realize there is no meat and that they are the dinner!

Hopefully, with these policies now in place, further problems is this area of the game should cease to exists.

Regards,
Syd Miller
IRB Chairman

A shame.
No more than approximations, 80 minutes of playing fetch with the Japanese, while we should have been able to swat them like cockroaches if we were "ready". We've got luck. And the Japanese pack has a future.
We should be able to get a 10/15/20 at best, with 50 or more for the NZ against whom we'll play on the 24.

Sets up some interesting equations for the finals. If AUS beats SAF in the quarters, then they will most likely meet NZL in the semi's. That will leave a Northern himisphere side a likely slot in the final.

Not so bad performance from France (even if the team didn't look that convincing during most of the match) getting the bonus point win against Canada a few hours ago, 46-19, though I expected that job to be a lot easier than it was.

Next week, New Zealand. :)

Sadly this is what happens when the future positions are pre-determined and open to a certain level of manipulation.

I'd rather they put all those who qualified into a hat and draw them out like it is done for the FA Cup for example.

That's the least of my worries, did you read the story on how some of our all black fans have been treating the aussie fans - targetting from day one of the WC, abuse, spat on etc, its like what the hell its a game guys life still goes on once its over, though maybe not for some. Shocking stuff. Reminds me of the time when we lost the world cup to SA I think or was it France, anyway John Hart was the coach- when he came home he was spat on in the streets, and his family threaten, for months he had to have a police escort to work. :nope: I know NZ and Aussie have been at each other for decades now over rugby but its kind of sad & embarrassing when its gets to the spitting stages. Had some free time today in the morning, so I've been watching South Africa - Namibia. An unexpected chance for Namibia to try their luck against the reigning world champions. That was not serious for the Sud-Af', but at least they've got to give a lesson to everybody.

Regarding NZ - France : The french selection remains on the defensive now. When we get to face them, it's just as if I didn't support anyone, same as when we're playing against Australia, South Africa, England or Ireland : because even if we happen to lose, at least the lesson will remain, that's the most important thing.
The NZ is tough.

This made me LOL

Over the top or what? Our intrepid reporter Josh Rakic was shopping with his fiance in a Wellington lingerie shop yesterday after being intrigued by the sign in the front window, which said: "All Black lingerie 20 per cent off." They were told by the shop attendants that the sign had caused major dramas, with International Rugby Board officials threatening to sue if they did not take it down. The reasoning was that All Blacks was a copyright name. They said five other stores in Wellington had been threatened with similar action. Great to see the World Cup goon squad have got their priorities right.

The french will hit hard and if they are more determined side they will win I never underestimate the french team they're more scary than all the teams combined. I never forget that shocker they pull years ago where I was fooled into believing they will be a push over, then they thrashed us.

I am yet to watch a game, the WC pulls me but not enough to be a fan and sit in front of the tv and scream for our team, maybe in the finals I might actually turn on the tele and watch the game...

The All Blacks looked dominant there tonight.Definitely not as much as expected, considering we didn't know what to expect from this partly new pack playing against those still labelled as "best rugby team" in here.
It was hard, of course.
But I was expecting between 30 and 50 points between the winner and loser myself - New Zealand defeating France of course. They've not given up fighting, and I believe that shows our guys are willing to give their best.

They're showing the will to meet them again in the finals next month to take their revenge, let's see whether they'll be able to. They'll probably have to face England in quarter-finals though :O: - if we beat Tonga that is.
Best of luck against Tonga mate.

Pool results show some interesting stats with SA showing the best defence so far in the tournement and NZ by far with the best attack. AU will have to lift against SA to have any chance of progressing as they've been patchy so far.

I can't see the Argies denting NZ's progress at this stage.

Every All Black fan fears this. Not me though im pretty tuff. :arrgh!:

Imo, we have lost Dan Carter our kicker, the replacement is not a good kicker so if the all blacks make it to the final and whoever we are up against, plays the penalty game the best kicker will help win the cup. I think why the Rugby media here is predicting England - Jonny Wilkinson.

What a game! I think we were lucky to get away with the win, but have to say our defence was awesome! Go you good thing!

Kiwis looking good against the Puma's as well.

South Africa - Australia : a HUGE effort from Australia against the now dethroned kings. Australia spent these 80 minutes starved of the ball, while South Africa dominated possession and territory. Low-scoring game - but first rate rugby !

New Zealand - Argentina : Great display of technique from the Pumas, proving that they definitely deserve their place in the Tri-Nations.

NZ - Australia should be well worth watching.

They got some luck but their defence was impeccable today. If they can get some quality ball they will give the Kiwi's a run. I think though we will bow out next week, as I think the AB's have the edge on us at the moment.

He was a bit generous around the breakdown but he's not as bad as some I've seen. At least he didn't blow the pea out of his whistle at every opportunity.

Whats up with that haka those crazy kiwis do... Its about Warrior Chief Te Rauparaha glad he wasn't eaten! :DL

When Ngati Toa warrior chief Te Rauparaha came up with his Ka Mate haka 200 years ago he was, one can only imagine, a very relieved man.
He had just eluded capture, and most likely being eaten, by a war party from a rival iwi who had chased him from Kawhia harbour to Lake Rotoaira in the middle of the North Island. The haka he did - with those impassioned words, Ka mate, ka mate, ka ora, ka ora, which translated mean I die, I die, I live, I live - was about survival. "That haka is about overcoming adversity. When he wrote it he was talking about coming out of darkness into light."

Rugby fans voting against a kiwi ref. I never watched the game with Australia v Springboks but apparently our ref didn't do to well. So far 60,000 fans have voted to make sure he never refs a game again.

Almost 60,000 rugby fans have joined an online petition calling on a New Zealand referee never to officiate again, after his "incompetence" allegedly robbed the Springboks of a semifinal place.
Bryce Lawrence presided over the weekend's Australia v South Africa quarter-final, in which the Wallabies pipped the Springboks 11-9.

The petition's creator claims Lawrence "made 29 wrong calls in the match" between South Africa and Australia. "He should never be allowed to ref a rugby at that level again ..."

"The Boks deserve a rematch!" said Kim-Leigh Kristen Davids. "WE DEMAND A REMATCH! We can beat da Aussies in our sleep!! (without Bryce Lawrence as the ref)."

Online petition calls for Lawrence's head

The moment of truth is nigh for France and Wales. Best of luck to both teams and may the best team meet the Wallabies in the final.:DL

Exciting end to a fairly dreary match. 14 man Wales didn't quite do enough to get there and France are the first team to the Final next week on what has to be said was a good defensive effort, but little else.

BossMark
10-15-11, 05:09 AM
Well I hope who ever plays France in the final give them one hell of a beating (but knowing the French they could surrender anyway)

Alex
10-15-11, 07:17 AM
It's proper to stay humble after such a little victory. That was not a success for us, the Welsh were just very unfortunate. Poor Leigh Halfpenny must be cursing his right foot. But Warburton deserved that red card anyway.

Though I must say I would have appreciated our team to meet NZ once again - we just need to get even with them - I wish the best to the Wallabies. :D

But one thing is sure : if we play like that again in final, victory will be in the hands of the opponent.

Jimbuna
10-15-11, 09:45 AM

You win some you lose some. The Kangaroos crushed the Kiwi's in League but the All Blacks were too good for the Wallabies.

Well done the All Blacks winning 20-6....the Wallabies' last win in New Zealand was 10 years ago and they have never beaten a Graham Henry-coached All Blacks side now in 11 encounters in the Shaky Isles.

I hope France 'turn up' for the final and make a good game of it.

The All Blacks will be overwhelming favourites when they return here next weekend to play in a rematch of the inaugural 1987 World Cup final against France, also at Eden Park, which New Zealand won 29-9.

Will history repeat itself?

I hope the eventual winners come about as superior in skills and cheating or inferences to it are not a topic of post match contention.

I'm looking forward to a hard fought game played within the parameters of the rules as befitting a world cup final.

Neither do I !
The problem is that this match for the Wallabies is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of ! That black wave was just insurmountable, purely and simply.

What are we going to do next week ?
I absolutely don't know. It's about giving our all on the field. Following such a performance from NZ against Australia, me thinks the french team must feel awkward actually.

I hope too and NZ don't need cheating in rucks to be damn good as they always be but I'm afraid of a big black wave and an humiliating score (and no match) if we are not smart as the argentinian were in the rucks against them.

I agree with you on the NZ team TJ, the AB's played well. They've just been a bit more cautious this time http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/513/0089.gif in order for the referee not to award us a foul.

I thought the same, we played defensive rugby in the 2nd half. If France got their kick our game play would of step up a notch, maybe the game would of been a match with some great tries from both sides.

Stephen Donald who got the kick is a rugby hero over here. Last time he subbed for Dan Carter in a Hong Kong game we were leading the Wallabies 24-12 and we ended up losing 26-24. Stephen was the scapegoat. Now hes redeem himself with that penalty kick and kicking the ball out of danger.
