What depth should I set to run decks awash? I used to know it for SH3, but I've never tried in SH4.

I use 35ft

Keeps the deck just below water - conning tower up - dives like a U boat.

Hello,

At 35 ft, you browse the electric motors and it no longer has any interest, since your sub is not faster or more manageable than dive, but is more visible.
For the bridge submerged and diesel engines, it is necessary to be from 24 to 26 ft, but the submarine is not very stable ...

Valid for Gato, Balao and Tench

Gibus is right, if you're gonna dive deep enough to engage the electrics, the game sees you as dived and you can be picked up on sonar. I dive deep enough just to keep the engines running and can hit 11-13kts

Another issue is radar, depends on the minheight value, but JP radar in game is rather overdone, taters fix for TMO RSRD seems to help.

I do find 24-28 ft to be about right, but much depends on water conditions. More of a game bug I guess, if your engines are running the game seems to surface you all the way and it's hard to hold depth. If water is calm, it controls well, but you about have to play real time and adjust as needed.

It also depends on what class sub you have. Decks awash seems to be a different depth for each sub class. You have to experiment foot by foot with each sub until you're no longer using battery power. When the battery icon lights up (is charging), you've found your decks awash depth.

Decks awash is different for each type of sub. 32 feet works on a Balao. For the others submerge a foot at a time until the battery charge light goes off, take her up a foot and hit the charge battery button. If it stays lit you're as deep as you can go decks awash on diesel.

Interestingly, in TMO I was unable to run a Sugar Boat at decks awash at all. It just wouldn't go below the surface without either going too deep or staying glued to the surface no matter what depth I set. It was pretty frustrating. I had no such problems with RFB.
