Had SH4 for A number of years and started playing it again. Have all the latest patches on A new install. Every thing goes fine and I do real good. The game asked me if I would like A new shiney boat and I say yes. So I get the new Balao class and get transfferd to Brisbane without me asking for it. Fine. My objective is to patrol the Marianna Islands. I go on my merry way, sinking ships on the way, get there, sink more ships until I have no more torpedoes or deck gun ammo. Cruise all around for weeks and cant make that yellow star turn dark. Had a return to base order, went ther, would not let me end patrol, only refit, went back, sunk ships in Tinian, Guam and Siapan, went back to yellow star, patrolled more endlees weeks and still cant make it turn dark. Made circles all around Marianna Islands same thing.Run out of Ammo, Go back to base and still can't end Patrol. Refit only. Is this A glitch in the Game and how do I resolve it without starting this patrol over. Thanx for letting me rant:damn::damn:

there should be a different base icon that indicates your home port. Sometimes it changes in a mission happened to me without telling me. Check your map again to be sure that your at the right home port for your sub. It looks a lil different than the rest. hope that helps

Two things first as theroc44 says your home port will will have the anchor tilted all the rest will be straight up. From Brisbane it shouldn't have changed but may be it did??? The game might still show Pearl or whatnot as home port. A save and reload should straighten things out.
Second to get the star to gray out you need to stay within 50 nm. for two days or so, it differs between different mods. Don't go out side that 50 mile radius or you gotta start the two days over again.
Good luck and good hunting

Both suggestions worked Great. Stayed within 50 nm, and got me 2 troop ships and 3 destroyers, And that was real tuff. And they did change my base without telling me. They changed it to Freemantel without telling me. Again thanx.:woot:

Guess they didn't plan on being overrun by the japanese army, eh?

I don't know why "ComSubPac" did that. Hey Dan...I don't think the Japanese got to Brisbane as that would have been really really bad...LOL:O:
lilpyrro; Yes, staying in that 50 mile radius is the trick as you found out. There will be times when the Patrol orders call out to go to a certain area and once you get within a certain distance, you get a set of secondary orders to "engage and sink enemy (and or merchant) shipping and the star is greyed out and that part of the mission is complete. Then you have free reign to go pretty much whereever you want. The secondary orders are completed as you either run out of fish or engage and sink a certain amount of enemy shipping. (I'm playing Stock W'GFO).
So, there are differant types of patrol stars which makes it a little more interesting, less predictable as to what type of patrol you'll be facing.
Good Hunting!! (And welcome Back!)

I'm an old sub sailor. I had no problem figuring out what to do. In 71 I served aboard the USS Bang and it did 5 War patrols in WW2. Did 5 Patrols on the SSBN 600
