Yay give those to your father who has suffered a lot under Gaddafi.
Btw is the necklace gold? Good investment for global crisis considering it is more like chain than necklace :haha:

I'd say that staff would be a ceremonial item, special occasions, military parades and whatnot.

Of course. Gaddafi seems to think he's a royal to be requiring royal ornament and that's probably his royal staff. It's just so funny when the reporter reacted to it.

It kind of looks like an ornate Feather Dusta, don't you think? :haha:
Very stylish for dusting those cob webs in the bedroom.

Yeah I think it does look much like a very tacky feather duster.Gadaffy obviously took his styling cues from Micheal Jackson so most of his possessions make little sense.I know he used to have his "tent" set up when he visited the UN.He is a modern day Caligula.

From what I know of the Libyan governmental system, anyone who possess the Gaudy hat and the People's feather duster is officaly the new leader of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya... :hmmm:

Long ago, gold was made into chains for the rich to wear as necklaces, and in order to pay for things they'd just twist off lengths.

And if that is true I would have been a highwayman and taken alot of gold necklaces.:D
This would also would have been a disadvantage in bartering because anyone that you attempt to barter with would see the amount that you had. That is why wealthy people had slaves some of them had the job of of going out and buying things so that the master to sit around his house or in another wealthy persons home wearing their gold which was really used more as a status symbol to other wealthy people.

They wore a lot of clothes and an overcoat would've concealed it - anyhow from what I've read the method was primarily used by ship owners

I'm guessing the new keeper of the hat and the feather duster probably couldn't do a worse job, so maybe this isn't such a bad idea after all... :O:

Bad Job?
What?
This is the guy who mined the Red Sea
Shot down an Italian airliner
Picked fights with US Navy fighter jets
Bombed another airliner
Invaded all his neighbors
Has a personal guard of warrior women
Provided safe haven for the IRA terrorists who tried to kill Harrison Ford
and sent men to steal Doc Brown's time machine
He's done more evil than some Bond Villains!

Well that is pretty bad indeed, but truth be told which one of us wouldn't have a personal guard of warrior women if we could afford it? :DL

Not that I'm against the concept per se, (as I'm sure they'd brighten up the room and make a great conversation piece), but I suspect they're of limited value when push comes to shove and it's time to hold the presidential palace.
Incidentally, I wonder what one has to do to qualify for such a prestigious position? Does it require post-graduate work or can any female just step in at entry level? :hmmm:

That's a little sexist, isn't? Back in WWII there were some amazing Russian snipers that were women.
The ancient Japanese and Chinese had their own groups of female palace guards in case even the Samurai and the (whoever the Chinese dudes were) failed.

It was meant in jest. But I suppose in a forum setting intent isn't always easy to determine. I actually thought about including one of these :D, or one of these :O:, but refrained as I thought it unnecessary to make it blatantly obvious for once. Clearly I was mistaken...

Maybe that Ukrainian "Nurse" that Gadhafi "employed" used it in one of those Fredrick's of Hollywood French Maid get ups.You know it seems now that he also had a thing for Condi Rice.I bet that he had the female guards because women are known to be very tenacious fighters of course it seems that he never used them but they where more body guards and you know that he never got near the front lines.
