WASHINGTON In just a few days, the fast-rising Republican star Michele Bachmann made two blunders:
- She cried "let's celebrate Elvis' birthday," Aug. 16 that, in fact, Elvis's death.
- She warned fellow countrymen to the threat from the Soviet Union 20 years after the Communist empire's disintegration.




Last Saturday won the congress woman from Minnesota in a non-binding vote in Iowa, where the first showdown of the presidential election campaign in 2012 will take place. Bachmann has made;strong emit thus equated with opinion-leading Mitt Romney and newcomer Rick Perry. That some opinions on several issues, such as slavery and homosexuality, differs somewhat from the American people at large were forgotten.

President Barack Obama said the other day that Perry's threat to Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, whose monetary policies he compared with treason, was that Perry was new in the game and he will learn what to say and not say.

I don't do politics and find all professional people in that arena suspect.
But here's a few simple things that get me.

Do they actually know what they are talking about?
Even nightly News casters are screwing up!

Why do they feel they must fake it?
I'm more impressed by someone that admits they don't know then someone who has no clue about Elvis times and dates and so on!

With all the REAL problems that CAN NOT wait for a new election?
Why should I listen to anyone of them?
If I was to leave my paid job, seeking a new job, while being paid?

But in her signature job in jurisprudence, Bachmann never rose to any prominence and spent little time as a litigator, even though former colleagues describe it as a busy office where young lawyers had every opportunity to jump into the fray and make their mark with influential cases.

Five former IRS co-workers, who spoke on the condition they not be named, recall that Bachmann mostly stuck to lower-rung work -- settling taxpayer disputes before trial and handling her share of collection matters, refund cases and advisory work in potential criminal matters.

The co-workers said that, for whatever reason, Bachmann didn't participate in the most intense work of the office: tangling with corporations and other big taxpayers in precedent-setting disputes tried before a judge in U.S. Tax Court.
