View Full Version : Where do I have the option to dock?

After installing TMO I made a new US career that dumped me in December 8, 1941 and was stationed on Manila. Once I completed the three objectives presented to me from Command I received news that Manila was captured, I went to Brisbane to try to End Patrol but it was grayed out. I also tried the dock at Surabaya but it didn't work either. I'm trying to figure out where can I end my patrol. I haven't tried the Pacific Docks(mainly due to the fact that I don't have enough fuel) or Fremantle. Any suggestions as to where I should go?

Your base port icon always has the anchor slanted. All others are straight up and down. If you don't have that icon with the slanted anchor then I would suspect you have a problem with your install, like some sort of corruption.

No, when you get those events that lead to some base being captured, the game will always generate you another home base, which has a tilted anchor as its symbol. You can only end your patrol there.

If you started out of Manila, your next base should be Surabaya. I've noticed that it does take some time before the tilted anchor shows up at the new base.

Short of that, keep rearming and refueling when you need to, and tell the crew that their next shore leave will be sometime in August of 1945.

Oh yeah... didn't think of that. You can keep refueling and rearming at other bases (since all you can't do there is exactely ending your patrol, besides repairing and dealing with your sick or wounded), and basically go on forever, if the game is taking too long to generate you another home base.

In theory, you can do this indefinitely ... what was the longest you guys ever stayied in one given patrol?

I once played the Hellcat single mission till the end of the war, don't remember how many patrols I did but sank something like a million tons. That was in stock 1.4 of course and no DiD. Do remember it taking forever to load the game because it keeps track of all your ships sunk, I forget how many but it was a lot.
Only time I ever made it to the end, Duci keep coming out with new stuff every time I got close.

In theory yes, but in practice you will soon see no more targets on the ocean.
This is not unique to TMO.

No it's not. One of the benefits to SH4 over SH3 is that SH4 only loads the files for a short period surrounding the start date, whereas SH3 has to load the entire war. SH4 loads faster, at the loss of endless refitting, which is quite unhistorical anyway.

I agree with you. SH4 loads only the files corresponding to the range of the date of departure.
For example, if you start on 30 January 1942 you will see no targets after 1 April 1942, because the following file is loaded 1 February 1942.
My English is so bad that I can not express myself properly. Sorry. :yeah:

Hellcat was the only single patrol that went more than 4 or so months all the others ran out of targets. Don't know why Hellcat is different.
I just played single patrols to learn the game before I started a career.

Hellcat mission starts from September 8, 1944.
At that time the files are loaded that take you to the end of the war.

Well in any case it's a stupid thing to do. I mean, just keep rolling and never coming back. At the very least, you would be missing promotions and awards, as I doubt they bundle all your merits into one giant-promotion from bilge rat to admiral in one go.
