well here we go again with another school scandal about money going to college football players under the table. :ping:

http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefootball/story/Report-Former-Miami-booster-Nevin-Shapiro-gave-impermissible-benefits-to-Miami-athletes-081611?ocid=ansfox11

isnt it high time to just say let them get paid and move on?

every damn school in the country that has any decent team is paying them through lackeys and relatives in one way or the other so lets stop the pretense of them being true athletes only playing for the love of the game.

so what do you guys think is the best solution to all this since you are never going to be able to stop the under the table money?

Schools found to be in violation of NCAA rules should be bounced from the NCAA; maybe have their accreditation revoked, too.

Draconian? Yep. I'm tired of caveats being given, excuses being made, and insignificant "punitive" action that isn't.

i agree but the catch 22 there is that they are ALL cheating, its just selective enforcement when someone opens their mouth or makes a stink about it so i dont know how you could stop it without canceling all their football organizations and heavy fines. lets be honest, nobody will want to cancel football for all the top teams and watch level 4A college ball, even though i think they should do just that.

EVERY school out there is doing it (at least the ones on tv who make money off of their games) so if a fair investigation was done i would be shocked if ANY school was found to NOT be cheating and paying players in some form or the other.

No Catch-22. If they're cheating, they're out, and have to earn reaccreditation again.

Where is it acceptable that because they're not getting caught, they can graduate and go on to Pro sports or other careers, while those who don't have the same athletic ability must do it the honest way?

If you get caught cheating, you lose. Period. Pete Rose wasn't even cheating, but he's out of the Baseball HoF. Meanwhile, known dopers still play. So we either have to accept that we're okay with cheaters, or we're not. This middle-ground of "well, it's not cheating unless you get caught" is half the reason we're as messed up in this country as we are.

I think the coaches who preside over these teams found in violation should be forced to find another line of work for a few years. There seems to be an annoying habit of them bailing out at the first hint of breaking scandal for a higher salary elsewhere. Meanwhile the program they left behind is in smoking ruins for years afterwards. Coach Carroll of the Seahawks comes to mind. He's safely ensconced in the NFL while the USC program is paying for whatever shenanigans went on during his tenure.

im with you on that, but thats why they switch venues so ncaa cant penalize them in the nfl

they should be fined with massive painfull fines to the tune of 6 figures for every year the vialations go on so they pay the penalty no matter where they hide and i would like to see mandatory lifetime ban from coaching college ball or even high school
