Dönitz has had enough of my adventures with his precious U-boats and has sent me to the Russian front... I am now flying in JG5 "Eismeer" based in Petsamo, near Murmansk. My mission is still stopping the allied convoys, but in order to achieve that I need to clear the skies of pesky VVS airplanes first.
I'll report back if and when Göring decides to sent me back to the U-boats.
I managed to buy an addon to Il-2 flight simulator, Ostfront: Decisive Battles in the East and if I like it I won't be playing much SH3 for awhile. I'll be back, though, SH3+GWX is too much fun to be left alone for a longer time :DL

IL2:1946?
Yep. The addon is made for IL-2: Forgotten Battles but it does seem to work without problems in 1946 as well.

From a Finnish equivalent to Ebay called Huuto.net.
The addon is made by German gaming company called X1Software which is still functioning I think, so who knows there might be more of these CD's still around. Mine came still in the wrappings, so I guess this an unused one. :)

Thanks! I just checked - Forgotten Battles is part of IL-2 Sturmovik 1946. I bought three copies for about $10 each on Amazon a while back, but haven't opened one yet.
IL-2 Stumovik is an incredible flight sim - great graphics and immersion. Happy hunting!
Good hunting :salute:
Ordered me a photo CD a while back containing photos (AFAIK) taken by
Walter Schuck from 7./JG5. It has a total of 1038 photos.
It also came with this:

Yeah, I have mission going right now... (I put the plane to autopilot, hope the Russians don't show up quite suddenly). I have a BF-109E4. Later on it gets upgraded to F2 and G2 (which I love) and G6.

Oh wow! :yeah: I've read Schuck's book (Pudotus in Finnish). That one is definetely one of the best books about air combat I've ever read.

I fly IL2 online every day. It is an incredible game with the UltraPack super mod, Sublynx google ultrapack and download it, still a large community flying online. I have been for 4 years now and dont seen an end soon. It is easily still the best combat flight sim out there with UltraPack 3.0 installed
a good flight stick and throttle is the saitek x52, it is what I use. also check out TrackIR, head tracking device.
I fly Spits_vs_109_mods server is my favorite, it is fullswitch which means it is 100% realism. It has historical missions from all theatres from the Mediteranian to the Easternfront to The Battle of Britain. Dont let the name decieve you the server runs all aircraft in each map that were hisorically correct, not just spits and 109s
I can help you with what ever you need just message me. We can wing up someday. Lots of teamwork online it is great fun.
By the way I always fly Luftwaffe, usually the Bf-109 all varients, FW-190 is good too.
Nice though I am an F4 fan myself :D
E variant for it's bad ass look and G2 for everything else. :yep:

Yeah the E4 looks great with the right paint scheme, but it's cannons run out quickly.
G2 is good as well, but I love dogfighting in 1941 so :03:
I would be a FW190 fanboy if it didn't stall that quickly, plus zoom and boom isn't my style of fighting.

@Miltiades and Dowly: F2 is a weak on the gun side, but a pleasure to fly and forces one to shoot at the right distances and the right places, so I think I'll be happy with that too.:)
@TheFizz77: Thanks for the advice. :salute:I don't have Ultra pack yet, but I did notice that a couple days ago and I'm looking forward to it. Especially since I understand that someone has made a mod for IL-2 and Ultra pack that lets you fly jets in the Korean war.:yeah:
Maybe you reach more victorys then "Erich Hartmann" who is the highest-scoring fighter ace in the history of aerial warfare. With a score of 352 air victorys. :salute:

Well that would be fine, yeah, but I'm afraid my shooting skills aren't Hartmann class. In the longest campaign yet, Finnish pilot 1941 - 1944 I managed to shoot something like 80 planes and that's it. Fun anyways!:)

Who says Hartmann had shooting skills?
If you wait until the other plane fills the entire window of the cockpit, you don't waste a single round."

If anyone wants the latest Ultrapack3.0 RC4 on disk instead of some 6 Gb download I have it on a couple of DVDs.
Oh wow! :yeah: I've read Schuck's book (Pudotus in Finnish). That one is definetely one of the best books about air combat I've ever read.
Thanks for the tip.

Getting close is the ticket to downed enemy planes... Goddamn, now I missed my landing and crashed :O: Damn. This is not starting too well. I need to start paying attention to flying and not yapping about here in the forums:oops:

How can you do both in the first place? :o
2nd if you missed your landing turned around and retry.
Who says Hartmann had shooting skills?
He had good tactics ;) Didn't waste ammo and get a clear hit on the other plane. He just had to worry about debris from the exploding plane.

I have two computers running side by side. An old laptop with XP and a newer one with 32-bit Windows 7. The old one was so useless by the time I bought the new one that there was no point in trying to sell it. It's kind of nice to have one open with the forum and a notebook for making notes while playing SH3, and the other computer for the game.
