Ahoy Captains!! :arrgh!: Arrgh!!! set sail!!!!

My wishlist in a "real" submarine simulation...

A silmulation program is a program who simulates the real things - sometimes it is forgotten in some games but there is games who have a big + on simulation.

Microsofts Combat Flight Simulator 3, Microprose B17 Flying Fortess, and yes - Ubisoft Silent hunter ( whole serie is still a good simulaton )

Have not mention any car games here - but it is kind of simulation games too - and there are some good ones there too - but above is the more "advanced" simulations games ever done.

Wich there was a newer version of B17 Flying Fortress with better graphics, also a good game - who still can be good sometimes - even if graphics not is the best now..

Now we will discuss subs because we are on subsim forum :)...

"TheDarkWraith" done some amazing mods sometimes with "IRAI-0-0-10", it made some more realism in game and it should be like an "update" for the game. BIG thanks for this!! it made the game more fun to play - and survive is now a factor who makes it more exiting - and it is more difficult too.

I like mods who makes the game batter IRAI-0-0-10 for example and MightyFine Crew Mod 1.2.1 with beard the crew members look more "veteran" - but there is more mods who have a BIG +

Some of these persons should Ubisoft consider to have as "team" mates :)..

I like Silent Hunter 5 more and more with some mods, some mods are good - some mods can make that you have to reinstall the game from the beginning - not so fun.

But mods is that you have to try whatever if you like them or not, not like then it is good if you have an "backup" folder - something to think about..

"Open Horizons" is a big work with a continue from 1943 - 45, but something has happend when you choose missions - It is more difficult to see how far you have come on an mission too - it is fully playable if you remember cordinates from brefering and what you mission is - write it down or something, makes almost an litte "realism" factor, It is possible that this will work later in Open Horizons ver ????

Well here is some things from my wish list..

XXI sub is in Silent Hunter 4 - it would be great if it would be possible to use it in SH5, and "Open Horizons" is a good name that Ubisoft could have use for an relese with
an continue of 1943 - 1945 with some of "updates" and mods who guys from this forum has done - good work!! :salute:
I wish some more dramatic situations - more exiting things, so the game not is getting boring :yawn:...

Waterlevel only raise to subdoors inside - when waterlevel raise to much it should come an question:

:o "Captain!! we taking in water - will we try to fix it or abdon station??"

With an abdon station it somethings ends working in that station - and a possibility to fix it on surface later - the sub is going heavier with more water and have more problem to go to surface again..

With try to fix it - well it can end on a boring way - :dead: dead crew members - an random factor can make it possible if the crew succed or not.

It should be possible to save the sub if subdoors are closed - as now it doesn't matter whatever thy are closed or not, there is an big minus on realism..
So totaly flooded rooms should be possible - too many flooded would end at bottom of ozean...a cool factor would be if you could see what happends in the flooded room too..

:06: Well this is not an easy task to solve - so it maybe only will be under a "wish list"
Sometimes the sub sink of no early warnings - and sometimes you think "what happend?" when the sub sink in SH5 - more warnings before the ship is sinking is under my wish list too.
It is from crew:

:o "Captain!! our sub has take serious damage whe must dive!!!"

It has happen that I have travel underwater without an depth charge in water and still the sub suddenly get a lot of damage and sink, maybe because of too deep and to much damage on sub but when you travel on one depth for example 150 meters for a longer while and suddenly the whole sub breaks without an warning before is a little strange maybe...:hmmm:

I think more persons has the same experience when they have played SH5..
Somthing from the crew there would also be nice..

:o "Captain!! we have to go up, the hull is breaking up, beacause our damage!!"

If the hull is very damaged you cant go very deep with your sub - but any warnings before it breaks would be nice...

I can't say I am happy with TDC and book of Ship Identification in SH5
More esier way to look in the book woul be nice, whatever you choose to do - and one thing woulde be to let XO Indentify the ships with for example:

:hmmm: "Captain!!, I belive it is an T3 Tanker" ( with a little error chance on big ang foggy conditions )

or:

:up: "Captain!!, I am sure that it is a T3 Tanker" (when it is a little closer but still maybe that he sometimes say wrong ship sometimes depending on level of XO )

They possibility to look in the identification book should be there whatever XO says so it is possible to see the depth of ship for the torpedos
Range and things is possible to get from the map - it is also possible to calculate the speed on the map, but is is maybe difficult - there would XO task and help come in to help calculate these things it is a little TOO difficult to make all these things, if you not think it is funny to do it..

"Captain!!, do you want my assistance in TDC??"

Ok with assitance :up: - There should Identification, range, and speed already be set..

With no assistance :down: it is either put in all these (identification, renge and speed) by yourself, OR the "easy way" with soultion on map - it shoul be an option for that.

XO, can have an "level" factor with som errors there too before he have experience - when he have come up in level - less errors..

So - TDC is still not very good - it is good that is possible to see torpedo solution on map directry on the "easy way" - but an big minus that you are unable to look in the book for ship identification for torpedo depth in the "easy way" - only if you know the ships it possible to know the depths of torpedos too...

Keep on modding!! :yeah: all these good mods rocks!!:rock: And Ubisoft should consider to use mods from guys who makes some great effects on the game sometimes..

And sometimes they should maybe be able to offer some those any work products they have...

Well, to edit all graphics is a lot of work - but to use interior from sh5 so long and who knows? - someone maybe will spend some time on the interior art work later when they see that it is possible to do it...
It is maybe possible to use some of interior artwork from SH4... but it dos't solve all stations....

But it is VERY near one step on the "wish list"

If Ubisoft saw a work like this they would maybe think "it's too much look - alike SH4" BUT - it is much easier now to make some commands now than earlier, thums up!! :yeah:

I maybe don't like when the game doesn't look like it would be the "original" but I like when some functions work better - and it does with this.. Well Done!! :salute: and respect!! :cool: cool - it is difficult to make something like this work as good as it does already..

Easier to use gramophone now too it is also better!!:up:

What are the minor problem(s)? Screenshots would be good to help explain them. When you say ship identification book are you referring to SOAN or the XO TDC dialog box ship ID book?

I am not exactly sure how to put them in on the forum :cry:

There was on way to "reach" the ship identification book in SH5 - it is if you click on the picture for XO, turn TDC on an click on the text for the ship, then it is possible to reach information about torpedo depth - and later Turn TDC off and do it "the easy way"

It would be better if identification book was easier to reach..

UI mod:

When I click on Identification book in SH4 button it leaves an "empty page" and its not possible to change pages..
I did also notice that when you plot a new waypoint with "Sh4" buttons it also can be some problems to see lines of the waypoints later - It is maybe because of an "mix" of SH4 and SH5 program files..

But as long you put waypoints as usual on the map it is not any problem..

When enter a port the SH4 buttons is still there - litte stange when you want update your sub..

I did miss the gramophone from SH3 & 4 with this mod its now working ok :up:, there was one way to use gramophone in SH5 too but I forgot how to do :cry:..

Hmm:hmmm:... this is your UI Mod version ( 0_2_0 ) is there any newer version that you have done? (I case if I have downloaded any old ones of your UI Mod )

The differences between what you have been using (v0.2.0) and the current version are staggering.

You must be using the SH4 style UI. I'm interested with any problems you encounter with using it. It appears that you have mentioned some. You said that when you enter port the SH4 buttons are still there....can you show a screenshot of this? Same thing about the identification book and this 'empty page' you speak about. Screenshot about the lines of the waypoints would be good too.

It is an picture with ship id book - but i dont have any other pictures and...
now I already have install "NewUIs_TDC_6_7_0_ByTheDarkWraith"

But there is better dials in the "SH4" style - the compass in SH4 style is better if you want to turn the sub for example 180 degrees - and more easy to change speed and so on - it maybe possible to change the style a little of buttons so it not is all too SH4 "look alike"

But I did like how easy it was to use the commands..

:o I must say amazing!! you truly are an wizard when it comes on modding Silent Hunter - I am surprised how well done you have succed to get everything to work in you mods with IRAI - and snorkel and so on - it is a lot of work doing this.

It can be fun to change things in a game sometimes...
I saw also that you have succed to enable the crew to move around that is also amazing...

IRAI - should be as an update for the game, it is so damn good!!:)

Well - as you did say, your mod did some on my "wish list"

Language support:
I saw it was an swedish textfile for menu - that file is outdated - and does not work with all the new things in the mod - recommend to use the "standard" text file in the mod, at least until an newer version is done for the textfile for meny in swedish language..

yeah ,they could put type XXI in open horizon ,but what to do with interior ?

Could be used the type VII interior for IX-B IX-C boats because were very similar.

XXI could be more unrealistic with the same interior but a lot of people can live with that :hmmm:

Except of course that the IX has four engines and two stern torpedo tubes, and a larger conning tower that houses both periscopes.
