View Full Version : Morale issue (GWX)

After 5 patrols my crew (except the officers) are still losing morale.
What could be causing it? almost everyone's got a U boat badge, and judging by the ranking I'm not doing awfully bad.

I know they missed Christmas, but they made it home in time for New Year :(

Yes! Now I know what will boost their morale! :har:
But seriously I got medals after 5 patrols, did Bdu get a discount or something?

Can't you mess around with morale and fatigue using SH3 Commander?

Can't you mess around with morale and fatigue using SH3 Commander?

You can select from various fatigue models with Commander, including no fatigue at all.

AFAIK Commander doesn't do anything (or have any options) as far as changing the way morale is handled by the game. But if crew fatigue affects morale, then choosing a fatigue model that alters that may do something.

I use the "no fatigue" option and I've never noticed any problems with morale of the crew, OTOH it's not something I really look at. I guess I would look at it if it was causing me problems, though.

Only to the extent that badges and medals slow down the fatigue rate. Although I've often thought it would be more appropriately applied to morale, but as far as I recall this was never implemented. :sunny:

What kind of errors? For me Commander is the most important part of the game, more so than any supermod.

When I clicked start SH3 via the commander, it gave me an error that the game was already running.
Plus only half of the options that I had chosen were actually enabled.

Hmm. That's bizarre, to say the least. I would try completely removing and reinstalling Commander, then try to run it again. I've never seen anything like that. But first just try a rollback in Commander. I personally keep 'Auto Rollback' switched on.

Could it have something to do with Steam?
I'll try the rollback option.

I also downloaded this: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1421

Good. If you're using Commander with GWX3 you need those files.

Still the same error.

EDIT*
Changed the compatibility and ''run as administrator''
And now it works, but it's still skipping some options, like no intro movies and starting out on sea.

Are using Windows Vista or 7 with the game installed in the Program Files directory? The more recent versions of Windows are very protective of anything in Programs or Program Files, I wonder if it would be keeping Commander from making some of the changes necessary to implement your selected options. :hmmm:

Do you have any AV or firewall applications that prevent software from altering other programs memory? If so, try disabling them temporarily and then run a test on Commander.

If it's not that, disable UAC (if you haven't already done so), and then run another test. Last but not least, try running Commander in compatibility mode.

If none of these sort the issue, then I'd be inclined to go with Steve and reinstall outside of the Program Files folder. Good luck! :sunny:

Ouch! :damn:

Sorry for the loss, but it sounds like you've got quite the exotic bug 'cause that shouldn't have happened. I wish there was another way, but about all I can suggest at this point is reinstalling and trying again with a fresh set of files.

Hope you get it sorted soon, 'cause we need you out there! :DL
