ok let me start off by clarifying I'm not trying to do anything illegal here. I have my own copy of SH3, and I am NOT asking for someone else's cd key or a security cracking system.
Back in early June, I uninstalled my copy of SH3 (my attempts at getting the S-Boot mod to work failed miserably and my entire install was kaput.) This was during my summer break from college, and I had left my SH3 case, including the code, at my house there. So I figured I'll just go without SH3 for a few months and play sh4 (which I learned didn't require the CD) and then reinstall SH3 when I got back to my college house and picked up my container.
A few weeks later I figured "hell, I'll try to reinstall it anyways" and it installed and ran and at no point asked me for the key. Is this because the cd key was kept on some registry file that wasn't deleted in the uninstall? Does the 1.4 patch update the game so the key isn't required? Did SH3 never have a cd key and I'm remembering the installation of a different game?
My gut is leaning towards the registry file explanation, but I don't know for sure. I'm having some CTD issues with SH3 that I didn't have before my botched attempt to get the S-Boot mod to work, and I'm thinking this could be because some file is left over on my hard drive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
