If there is nothing yummy about fully revealed boobs then there's no point in covering them. But the fact is fully revealed boobs arouse men sexually. It is sexually explicit to go around topless. It is degrading for women.

However I came to the conclusion that this has not neccessarily anything to do with puritan morale. It is certainly one factor, as the Americans are the most religious folks in the western hemisphere - much more than the "religious" state of Israel.

But I came to the conclusion that Americans regard it completely different, in the same way like we see religion over here: keep it private and away from kids.

I've never understood the American fear of gender differences and sex. It's as though we've got this hangup about watching people make more people, but we're seemingly ambivalent, at best, with watching people make fewer people.

I understand the concept of public standards of decency; what I don't get is how they're applied seemingly at random.

There seems to be an American tradition of not looking directly at the truth: People like sexuality and sex - it's a natural part of being human. Put another way - we have to train people to use firearms well, but most can use their natural equipment for what it was intended without any kind of formal training.

Especially for a country renown for it's cars' straight line speed. And lack of corners/cornering. :O:

Most of the US have a speed limit of 65-75mph (~105-120kph), so any vehicle doing 100mph+ (160kph+) is going to garner attention, especially given that the average driver has little to no experience handling a vehicle at that speed.

What you don't understand it was religion that made boobs and nakedness immoral as they made sexuality evil. The damage I see is that sexual repression leads to sexual perversions and truly deviant sexual behaviors. Many have written on this correlation and I accept it as a truth. And I have a firm belief that the sexual ethic taught in most mainstream Christian churches does not stack up with biblical revelation.

I went on several mission trips with our church in the 80/90's to Borneo, Africa, etc.. The tribes we dealt with accepted Christ, but they had their own culture...in which they all ran around totally naked. Because they were never taught sex or the naked body was evil, they don't view the naked body with sexual intent as we. Sure, they admire beauty and have sexual feelings, but a womans boobs are no more sexual than her legs or face. They actually look at the body sexually much different than we.

Imagine going to church and seeing about 100 men, women and childen all naked on their knees praying. Imagine praying yourself and looking up and seeing a butt in your face...they gave it no thought. The women in Borneo were beautiful, strange, the only ones getting aroused with sexual desire over the naked body were the white christians there from the US.

The same with sex for them, they don't view it as evil, except some rights apply to the husband, single women offer sex to you as they would a meal, they don't understand and get offended when you refuse, they simply want to give you pleasure. People had sex in the open all the time. Kids grew up watching parents have sex, just the way they live, you can't hide anything unless you wander off in the woods.

Some missions taught western biased christian values that sex was evil, the body should be covered, etc..It wasn't long the tribes that adobted these values started having issues, rape, adultery, jealously, men fighting, etc.. Women were becoming sex objects and because sex and nudity were evil, the end result was perversion. Thankfully our mission leader worked within the tribes culture, he understood their survival depended on it. Last I heard they were still there, in church still naked.

In Italy (according to my cousin there) women are generally expected to stay home and raise a family.

Sexual desire leads us to seek a partner. However, many religious groups teach that sexual desire equals lust and is sin. Sexual desire, fantasy, sexual urges stem from puberty and are natural, it only comes lust when it seeks to take or cause harm. The problem I have is many churches tell teens masturbating is evil, unless you can do it without sexual thought, etc... Shoot, when I went to a fundy church when young, we were told having sexual thoughts was adultery.

Lust has nothing to do with a females virginity, unless you lie or force yourself. Covet biblically means to take what isn't yours. The greek word for lust was commingly used in reference to adultery, because men would take another man's wife, which was his paid for property.
